Wanda Sykes says she likely won't host the Oscars again, and talks about the moment between Will Smith and Chris Rock
"Y'all gotta realize, I was working that night, and I watched my co-worker get popped, at work, you know what I'm saying? That's not supposed to happen. I was upset, like physically upset about it. And then it even sickened me more, watching everybody just sit out there and not react. And then to give that man an award afterwards, I was like, I'm done with y'all."
Sykes says Smith called her to apologize:
"Yeah, he did, he called, but you know what? I was actually physically sick. I had a, I had a sinus infection, so I didn't pick up, but he left a message. I received it. I accepted. I'm good."

Growing up without guidance does not just delay you. It distorts how you see yourself.
You step into adulthood already behind, then get judged for not knowing rules nobody taught you.
That creates frustration, self-doubt, and sometimes anger that has nowhere to go.
For men, it gets heavier because nobody really checks in. You are just expected to figure it out.
So you either stay stuck in resentment, or you make a hard shift into responsibility.
Here is the part most people will not say directly.
Your past explains your position, but it does not excuse staying there.
At some point, a man has to become his own teacher, his own structure, his own discipline.
That is not fair, but fairness is not part of the equation.
Men who rise from that background build something different.
They build awareness instead of autopilot.
They build systems instead of relying on luck.
They become intentional because they had no other option.
And that becomes an advantage if handled right.
The mistake is comparing your timeline to people who were guided early.
Different starting points mean different timelines.
Focus on direction, not speed.
Learn basic life skills deliberately. Money management, communication, health, discipline.
Fix one area at a time instead of trying to repair everything at once.
And most importantly, drop the need for validation from people who did not equip you properly in the first place.
You do not need their approval to move forward.
You need structure, consistency, and patience with your own growth.
A man who builds himself from confusion becomes far more solid than one who was carried.

Honest question. wtf does she do for a living when she’s not on the show?

@medusa___8 In 5 years no ones going to care about music from her. It's too much to fast, there's nothing to grow into. There's a reason it takes decades for others to do these things and it's not because they are less talented or popular. She's a veteran in her group but a rookie soloist.
English

slavery is worse, far worse, than the worst oscar bait slavery movie you've ever seen. physically and emotionally.
whites think slavery was just whips and chains, like they were livestock, but livestock was treated better.
WELCOME TO BLACK TWlTTER @blacktwiterthrd
This was a torture device used during slavery.

@cuntneycox @YallQunt They're being obtuse. Let's just move along, chile 🙄
English

@YallQunt @luvsickboy12 i think they’re saying it’s not just a gay black man’s issue. it’s all black men regardless of creed or orientation.
English

Maybe we should also be asking the black gay men why they keep subjecting themselves to be fetishized by other races and mistaking it for acceptance and equality

As a Hispanic man how are you racist towards blacks but then gobbling every black man’s dick in New York City?

full shade I only want to be in community with black queer people who promote and advocate for femininity, faggotry, and trans people

it’s genuinely no shade, but I do not care to be in community with white gays.

@edwardbrgr Its so underrated I try so hard to get people to watch it. She should have swept awards season while it was airing. Its truly my favorite show of all time. Honestly everyone on the show is great.
English

I feel the urge to rewatch this show but I just need to find a week of free time to watch the entire thing again from the start
Tatiana Maslany reinvented television with Orphan Black the same way James Gandolfini did with The Sopranos and Bryan Cranston with Breaking Bad. Yes, my praise for her goes as far as that. Her performance in Orphan Black is revolutionary!
