@vivaladivahhh22 I FELT THAT TOO you can definitely see it in her face like the longing is there but they just never had the time to really build on it we never got to see her anger or that powerful side of calypso it was mostly just subtle expressions and face card

I felt like the subtleties are there. You can get a sense that she’s lonely and she’s thinking about the man she wants so badly but knows she can never have because his heart is somewhere else. There’s a moment where she comes to that realization.

Honey, Chris Nolan can’t write good female roles for shit just like Scorsese, and people so dumb they blaming the actor for poorly underwritten part. Good for Charlize for collecting her 5 million paycheck for 2 minute role.

@luvstheron For all we know the script was bigger and the first cut longer. Given the runtime restrictions imax films have Nolan said this time he was forced to cut. Maybe some calypso content was cut too

Actually Calypso is one of our favorite goddesses. At this time.
Which reveals the state of our relationship.
So we never criticized Charlize.
We do critize the depiction of Ogygia and the missing cave. How it was described by Homer.
How Homer describes the island and the home of the goddess is a direct description to her character.
Only that unfortunately Nolan made a 180° turn. And you only see the sandy windy beach.

@ponytailorswft yeah totally i think they probably had to cut a lot because the film couldn’t be much longer than three hours and also a lot of other important parts of the odyssey weren’t included either so i guess calypso’s backstory was one of the things that got left out
