Happy New Month – AUGUST
God gives us a fresh start every single day.
And every new month is like handing us a new relay baton - a chance to begin again.
We all step into a new month carrying hope.
Hope to become better than we were yesterday.
Hope to correct our mistakes.
Hope to learn something new.
Hope to move one step closer to our dreams.
As we welcome August, let's stay positive, keep moving forward no matter how small the steps may seem, and never stop dreaming big.
Remember, progress isn't measured by the size of the step...
It's measured by the direction you're walking.
Happy New Month, my friends.
May August bring you good health, new opportunities, and many reasons to smile.
❤️ Happy August!

A Fast Website Begins Long Before the Browser Opens
One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is:
"My website is slow. I need a better server."
Sometimes that's true.
But very often...
The server isn't where the problem begins.
A fast website is the result of many small pieces working together.
Think of website performance as a chain.
And like every chain...
It's only as strong as its weakest link.
That's why the best-performing websites aren't always the ones with the biggest or most expensive servers.
Here's how I normally think about it.
1. DNS (Domain Name System)
DNS is simply the connection between your website name and the server where your website files are stored.
Imagine trying to call a friend.
You know their name.
But your phone doesn't call names - it calls phone numbers.
Before the call can happen, your phone first finds the correct number.
That's exactly what DNS does for websites.
When someone types lwegatech.com into a browser, DNS finds the server where the website lives and directs the visitor there.
Only then can the website begin loading.
If that lookup is slow or poorly configured, your visitor waits before your website even starts responding.
2. Network
Once your visitor knows where your website is, the request has to travel across the internet.
The quality of that journey depends on things like network routing, distance, internet congestion, and the quality of the hosting provider's network.
Even a powerful server can't respond quickly if the road leading to it is slow.
3. Server
Now the request finally reaches your server.
Inside that server are several components working together:
CPU
Memory (RAM)
Disk performance
Operating system
Web server configuration
Each of these influences how quickly your website responds.
A well-configured server often performs much better than a larger server that hasn't been properly optimized.
4. Database
Most modern websites don't simply display static pages.
They constantly retrieve information from a database.
Poor database design, missing indexes, slow queries, or oversized tables can quickly become the biggest performance bottleneck.
5. Caching
Think of caching as keeping frequently used information nearby instead of fetching it from scratch every single time.
It's like keeping your most-used files on your desk instead of walking to the filing cabinet whenever you need them.
Caching allows your server to reuse results instead of rebuilding every page from the beginning.
One of the smartest ways to improve website performance is simply to avoid repeating the same work.
6. Application
Even the fastest server cannot compensate for poorly written software.
Efficient code requires fewer resources, processes requests faster, and creates a better experience for every visitor.
Good software design is one of the biggest performance optimizations you can make.
7. Images & Media
We all love beautiful, high-quality images.
But if they aren't optimized, they can become one of the biggest causes of slow websites.
Uploading a 12 MB image into a space that only displays a small thumbnail forces every visitor to download far more data than necessary.
Optimized images alone can dramatically improve website speed.
8. Browser
Finally, the visitor's own browser also plays a role.
Modern browsers cache files, reuse previous connections, and optimize how pages are displayed.
All of these contribute to the overall browsing experience.
The point is…..
A fast website isn't created by one powerful server.
It's created when every layer of the journey has been carefully designed and optimized.
Ask yourself:
"Which link in my chain is actually slowing my website down?"
Happy #TechThursday, my friends.

Three of my friends live in South Africa, but the way they get there is totally different.
One flies by plane. Another takes a bus. The third usually drives with friends.
The one who flies gets there within a day. The one travelling by bus takes weeks, with a few stretches along the way, and arrives completely exhausted 😩. The one who drives with friends also takes weeks, but for him, the journey is part of the experience. They enjoy the road trip, make stops at hotels, sleep well, recharge, and continue the next day.
At the end of the day, they all reach South Africa. But the one who flew saved time and energy, and by the time the others arrive, he's already done a lot more.
I relate this to AI.
I've seen several creators doing their best to prove they aren't using AI. Some even swear they'll never use it when writing.
But honestly, to me, you're just delaying yourself.
If a tool can make your work easier, faster, and better, why not use it?
Don't be that boss who thinks that if something isn't done by him personally, nobody on the team can deliver quality work. You'll die with a pile of work on your table! 😂
Give clear instructions. Let your team do their part. Go through the work, make sure everything is in order, make corrections where necessary, and keep moving.
People need good-quality results. How you get there is totally on you.
And the funny thing is, most people probably won't even be able to spot the difference.
Unless, of course, you intentionally leave a few typing errors in your work just to prove you're human. 🤣 I've been seeing that a lot lately!
Use the tools. Review the work. Own the final result.
The goal isn't to prove that you did everything the hard way. The goal is to get the job done well.

AI Tools Are Global. Business Problems Are Local.
As I've been learning more about AI over the past few years, one thing has become very clear to me.
AI tools are global, but the problems we solve live within our communities, our businesses, and our people.
Today, anyone with an internet connection can access some of the most powerful AI tools ever created.
Whether you're in Kampala, Nairobi, London, or New York, the technology is almost the same.
The real difference isn't who has AI.
It's who understands the problem they're trying to solve.
For example...
AI can help you write code.
It can summarize documents.
It can generate images.
It can even help you build software faster than ever before.
But AI doesn't automatically understand how a pharmacy in Uganda manages medicine stock.
It doesn't know why a SACCO in a rural district struggles with loan approvals.
It doesn't understand why a restaurant owner wants to track food wastage, or why a local retailer needs an invoice that complies with the way they do business.
Those are local problems.
And local problems need people who understand the local environment.
That's why I believe the biggest opportunity in Africa isn't building another AI tool.
It's building solutions that use AI to solve African problems.
The technology already exists.
The opportunity lies in understanding the people.
As software developers, entrepreneurs, and innovators, our greatest advantage isn't that we have access to AI.
Our greatest advantage is that we understand the challenges our communities face every single day.
Build for those.
Then let AI help you build them better.
Happy Tuesday, my friends.

Customers Still Expect Professionalism... Even from Freelancers.
Over the weekend, I caught up with one of my old friends who runs a plumbing and construction business.
As we talked, our conversation shifted from life to business, and eventually to growth.
He's one of those people who is exceptionally good at what he does. The quality of his work speaks for itself, so getting business has never really been his challenge.
But there's one thing about him.
He's always been comfortable operating as a one-man business. Even years ago, he preferred keeping things simple rather than formalizing his operations.
Then he shared something interesting.
He said that today's clients expect more than just a job well done.
They ask for a quotation before work begins.
An invoice before payment.
And a receipt after the job is completed.
It made me smile because that's the reality of today's business environment.
Whether you're a plumber, electrician, designer, consultant, mechanic, or any other skilled professional, customers want accountability. They want records of what they agreed to, what they paid for, and proof of payment.
Professional documents don't just make your business look organized.
They build trust.
That's one of the reasons we built BORAinvoice.
We wanted freelancers, self-employed professionals, and growing businesses to have an easy way to create professional quotations, invoices, receipts, and keep proper records, without needing complicated accounting software.
Because sometimes the difference between getting paid and winning the next client isn't just the quality of your work...
It's how professionally you present it.
Have a productive week, my friends.

The Sales Question That Changed After 17 Years
One thing sales has taught me is that the questions customers ask change as your business grows.
In those early days, I would walk into a prospect's office carrying all the confidence in the world. 😄
I would passionately explain our websites, hosting, software, and every service we offered. Of course, being a young tech person, I would throw in every technical term I knew, hoping it would make the customer see how knowledgeable I was….😄
Then I would pause...
Thinking I had absolutely nailed the presentation.
The customer would lean back in their chair, look me straight in the eye, and ask one simple question:
"Now tell me... what if you close?"
I won't lie.
That question disturbed me for many years.
Every time I heard it, I'd pause for a moment, smile, and reply:
"Sir, I can't give you a straight answer to that. But one thing I'm sure of... we'll be here when you need us."
Some would laugh out loud.
Then they'd say,
"Okay, young man... I'll give you a try."
Looking back today, I realize they weren't just buying our service.
They were taking a chance on us.
Fast forward almost two decades later...
The question has changed.
Today, customers rarely ask me:
"What if you close?"
Instead, they ask:
"Which big companies are using your systems... or who have you worked for?"
That change means a lot to me.
It reminds me that time builds credibility.
Today, I'm grateful that I can confidently mention organizations and businesses that have trusted @lwegatech over the years.
But one thing hasn't changed.
Trust.
Whether you're in your first year or your twentieth, every customer is trying to answer one question:
"Can I trust you?"
Sometimes they'll ask it directly.
Sometimes they'll ask about your clients.
Sometimes they'll ask for references.
Sometimes they'll simply watch how you respond.
To every young entrepreneur just starting out...
Don't be discouraged by the difficult questions.
Some will sound impossible.
Some may even sound a little funny. 😄
But every question is an opportunity.
An opportunity to improve your business.
An opportunity to earn trust.
An opportunity to become better at what you do.
One day, you'll realize those very questions helped shape the business you've become.
So keep showing up.
Keep learning.
Keep building.
Because trust isn't built in one meeting.
It's built one promise kept at a time.
Have a wonderful Wednesday, my friends.

Your Website Should Do More Than Introduce Your Business.
A good website should not simply tell people who you are. It should make it easier for them to understand your services, find the information they need, contact you, make enquiries, access resources, and take the next step with your organization.
That is why website development should begin with understanding what the website needs to achieve, not simply choosing a design.
At LWEGATECH, we develop professional websites around the needs of your organization, combining functionality, usability, performance, and a strong digital presence.
Whether you are building a new website or improving an existing one, build with purpose.

Customers Still Want to Meet You.
One reason I call myself a sales intern is because sales is one profession that keeps changing.
Just when you think you've figured it out... everything changes. 😂
After COVID, many of us believed face-to-face meetings were on their way out.
Those of us in the online business world thought, "This is our time."
But it turns out that was only temporary.
Today, almost every serious prospect says:
"Let's meet."
"Come and take me through what you do."
As a sales intern, it took me a little time to adjust.
I kept trying to close deals online, only to realize very few were converting.
So I rolled up my sleeves and got back on the road.
And you know what?
The conversion rate improved.
The lesson?
Technology has made it easier to connect.
But trust is still built person to person.
Sometimes the fastest way to close a deal... is simply to show up.
How are you converting prospects into paying customers today?
Have a fantastic week ahead, my friends.

One thing we have to all admit is hardest when you have set up a business and now try to grow it, is transferring your (business owner's) way of thinking, working, checking, communicating, escalating, and delivering from your head into a repeatable company operating system.
So that you can be 10 of you delivering the same without the client missing the founder.
That makes me give those who have built multi-country, operational businesses hats off for their ability to scale beyond self.
