SSL Certificates Don't Make Your Website Hack-Proof One of the biggest misconceptions I hear in the web hosting industry is this: "But I bought an SSL Certificate. How did my website still get hacked?" I've even had clients tell me: "You IT people always lie. You told me my website was secure because it had an SSL Certificate, yet it was infected with malware." I understand why many people think that. When they see the 🔒 padlock in the browser, they naturally assume their website is now completely protected. But that's not what an SSL Certificate was designed to do. So, what exactly is an SSL Certificate? SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer (today's certificates technically use its successor, TLS, but most people still refer to them as SSL certificates). Its primary job is simple: To encrypt data as it travels between your website and your visitor. Think of it like sending an important package. Without SSL, your package travels openly, and anyone along the way could potentially look inside. With SSL, the package is securely locked before it leaves you and can only be opened by the intended recipient. The journey is protected. But... SSL doesn't inspect what's inside the package. If the package already contains malware or malicious code, SSL will still deliver it securely. What SSL does protect ✅ Encrypts information during transmission. ✅ Protects passwords and login credentials. ✅ Helps prevent data interception. ✅ Builds trust with visitors through HTTPS. 17 Years of Grinding, Failing, Succeeding... and Above All, Staying in Business Seventeen years ago, I made a decision that would completely change the direction of my life. At the time, my career was in networking and systems. I enjoyed building networks, managing servers, and solving technical problems. But during my free time, a good friend of mine, Arthur, introduced me to web development. What started as curiosity quickly became a passion. The more I learned, the more excited I became. Then one day, I made a decision that felt small at the time but turned out to be life-changing. I decided to build a business around it. That business became LWEGATECH. Today, 15th July, LWEGATECH celebrates 17 years. Looking back, I can honestly say the journey hasn't been easy. There have been exciting moments. There have been difficult seasons. There have been projects that exceeded expectations. And there have been days when nothing seemed to go according to plan. But through it all... We kept moving. There's a line in Bob Carlisle's Butterfly Kisses that has always stayed with me: "I must have done something right..." Whenever I hear those words, I smile. Because despite all the challenges, setbacks, lessons, and sacrifices... I also feel like we must have done one or two things right to still be here after 17 years. Today, my heart is simply filled with gratitude. To Client No. 001, thank you for taking a chance on us. To every client who has trusted LWEGATECH over the past 17 years... Thank you. How Much Is Enough for a Customer to Try Your Product? One of the hardest questions every company eventually faces is this be it a SaaS company or product manufacturing or even service one. "How much of our product should we give away for free?" Give away too little, and potential customers never experience enough value to justify paying. Give away too much, and many users become comfortable staying on the free plan forever. Finding the balance is much harder than it sounds. At LWEGATECH, we've been discussing this question for years while building BORAsuite. Our sales and marketing team will often tell me: "Let's add this feature to the free plan." A few weeks later... "Maybe we should move that feature back to the paid plan." 😄 It's a healthy debate because we're all trying to answer the same question: What is enough for someone to genuinely experience the product, without giving away everything? Across @borapos , @borapharmaug , and BORAinvoice, we intentionally provide a Free plan. Our goal isn't simply to attract users. It's to give businesses enough features to understand how the software works, solve a real problem, and confidently decide whether it's worth upgrading. But here's the interesting part... Even after 17 years in business and nearly four years of building BORAsuite, I still don't believe there's a universal answer. Every product is different. Every market behaves differently. Every customer values something different. For me, the challenge isn't deciding whether to offer a free plan. It's deciding where the line should be. Enough to demonstrate value. WELCOME TO JULY - MY MONTH OF GREAT JOY 💖 There are months on the calendar that come and go. Then there is July. For me, July isn't just another month. It's a month filled with memories, milestones, and countless reasons to be grateful. The first celebration is my daughter's birthday. This year she officially becomes a teenager. Sometimes I wonder where the years have gone. It feels like it was only yesterday when she was born. Yesterday when she called me "Daddy" for the first time. Yesterday when I held her little hand as we walked into school on her very first day. And now... here she is, growing into a beautiful young lady. Life really does move faster than we realize. #July is also special because it marks another wedding anniversary for my wife, #Grace, and me. Interestingly, we chose to get married on the same day as our daughter's birthday, making it a date our family celebrates together. Marriage has given us moments of laughter, seasons of challenge, countless lessons, and many victories worth celebrating. Looking back, I'm simply thankful that we took that step together. I'm equally grateful to our family and friends who stood with us on that special day and have continued to be part of our journey. Then comes another milestone that means so much to me.
