Three years ago today Kent police smashed into my home, followed by a TV crew, and arrested me for a crime that hadn’t even took place. The basis for their action: someone I had regarded as one of my best friends until we had fallen out the year before claimed she had been

If Liam Allan's barrister hadn't found thousands of exculpatory text messages from his accuser the day before trial, he may well have been wrongfully convicted Dame @VeraBaird is ultimately responsible for independently locating wrongful convictions in the UK @EmpowerInnocent

Just a reminder of how much damage Baird has done to the justice system. By normalising the obfuscation of evidence.

Those who continue to have faith in the modern police force should read this. So should all those who aided this outrageous pursuit of innocent people. ‘The Met was duped by fantasist Carl Beech. A decade later, the real victims are still suffering’ telegraph.co.uk/gift/f08c273f1…

This is Lauren Kinrade, 35, from Kent. She made twenty false rape allegations against an elderly cancer patient whom she cared for. The innocent man, 71 - who also has Parkinson's disease - spent THREE MONTHS in prison. Kinrade was jailed for 4yrs, but will be out in two. 🇬🇧

Today people from dozens of groups came together to demand MPs vote against yet another round of anti-protest powers. The government intends to give police the power to restrict protests based on their so-called ‘cumulative disruption’. The government has been transparent with this: these powers are being pushed in response to the mass national marches for Palestinian rights. But this proposed change would impact all of us and our ability to protest, for whatever cause is most important to us. Our right to protest must be defended. ✊

The local magistrate can now sentence you to prison without a jury for two years and you have no right of appeal. We all know where this is going. The bureaucrats have gone full Stalin it's all they have left.

NHS hospital: I noticed the clock on the wall showed the wrong time. A nurse told me they knew, but they wouldn’t report it because replacing the battery through the NHS would cost £70. A £2 battery... £70. How? Why? That's when I began to dig further. 🧵

Stacey Sharples’s false allegations of rape destroyed lives. Ten innocent men were arrested, jailed in custody & branded rapists. Had she succeeded, they would have gone to prison for years. Sharples has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years. But if her lies had secured convictions, the men she accused would have faced sentences many times longer. Justice would have meant parity: a false accuser should face the same punishment their victims would have received had the lie prevailed. For years we have been told false allegations are vanishingly rare — a narrative repeated endlessly after the disastrous Operation Midland investigation. Former Norfolk Chief Constable Simon Bailey claimed they amounted to just 0.1%. That figure has always been implausible. Sir Richard Henriques, who investigated the scandal, placed the figure far higher — closer to 10%, and even that may be conservative. When lives can be destroyed on the basis of untested claims, the stakes could not be higher. The police must investigate allegations thoroughly — but they must also recognise that malicious false accusers exist. Until the system accepts that reality, innocent people will remain at risk. @FACTukorg

If you're accused of 'hate speech', you're nearly twice as likely to be found innocent by a jury than if your case is just heard by a judge. The British people know right from wrong. It's a disgrace that this Government wants to cut them out of the justice system.
