@markofagenius If its only reform that see it as a punishment then obviously the areas around them wouldn’t think it as a punishment so what’s the problem? If it is genuinely perceived as a threat by the locals what do they feel threatened by from the occupants of the centres?

It’s remarkable that we now live in a country where Reform brazenly announce that if they win power nationally they will punish areas of the country that didn’t vote for them. Let that sink in, and make sure Reform never get that opportunity

@markwh2001 @JonathanPieNews Name one place that has been broken in to and destroyed. It can only be a threat if it’s a bad thing so what makes it a bad thing? It can’t be from right wing protests because it wouldn’t be in their areas so they have no need to protest.

@m1tch241 @JonathanPieNews No it’s the use of them as a threat to voters that I object to. I’m not that bothered where they are. Seems to me the far greater risk is harm from racists trying to break in and destroy the places, than from the occupants.

@lukeakehurst @timmyvoe Starmer does not need any help in destroying himself, the party, and the country. He managed to do that with the withdrawal of the winter fuel payment and went down from there.

@markwh2001 @JonathanPieNews Why what are you saying is wrong with migrant facilities? Is it the secure facility you are against would you prefer the occupants to be able to come and go? Or is it the occupants you are arguing against if so why, they’re mainly women and children seeking refuge apparently.

@JonathanPieNews Seems a bit more sinister, “vote Reform UNLESS you want a migrant facility in your area.”

UK politics now has left and right wing populists shouting at each other, and this is exactly the kind of divisive nonsense it produces. This video is not serious policy. Just rotten rhetoric from Reform that’s as petty as it is performative. Britain deserves better.
Nigel Farage MP@Nigel_Farage

If you vote Reform you will not have an illegal migrant deportation facility in your area. We will hold migrants awaiting deportation in constituencies that vote Green instead. You get what you vote for.

@sophielouisecc It would only be seen as a punishment if the occupants were undesirable surely. Are you seriously saying you deem illegal immigrants undesirable?

In a 5 way contest it’s very likely that greens will be elected on a minority vote where they win It is deeply wrong to inflict detention centres in those areas as a ‘punishment’ when it’s likely that 70% of people wouldn’t have voted for them anyway It’s not serious politics

@AngelaRayner @patrick_hurley So those on benefits are being effectively paid twice to feed their kids and tax payers are paying twice to feed theirs. Make this make sense.

I know the difference an affordable, healthy breakfast can make for children. Together with local leaders like @patrick_hurley we’re creating more breakfast clubs like this one in Southport. Vote Labour 7th May, so we can give more kids the chance to learn free from hunger.

@george01mc It’s more a case of “if you come to this country illegally we will house you next door to the far left” A major deterrent to illegal immigration.

@NickBuckleyMBE @Vocal_GenX New York welcomed illegal migration, until they got illegal migrants. Chicago welcomed illegal migration, until they got illegal migrants. San Francisco welcomed illegal migration, until they got illegal migrants. It would appear the left welcome illegal migration, elsewhere.

This stunt has backfired and unfortunately, that is all Reform UK are - a PR company hoping to be elected. I despise the Greens, but a serious democracy does not punish voters for voting a certain way. That is called tyranny.

I may not agree with Green voters, but deliberately placing deportation centres in areas that vote against you as political punishment is vindictive and counterproductive. You don’t win people over by threatening them. It’ll also put people in serious danger.

Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine continues to be met by European unity. Working together to equip Ukraine to defend itself, the UK will enter talks to join the EU loan programme. We will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes. 🇺🇦🇬🇧 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@CalvinBailey Labour are paying £3,000 for each patient removed from the lists. They’re also instructing GPs to not refer 25% of the patients they currently do. How many cancers and critical illnesses with this cause to be missed? Once again kicking the can down the road similar to PFI

Labour has reduced the NHS waiting list to the lowest in 3 years. In London, 46,074 fewer people are now waiting for treatment thanks to hard-working NHS staff and Labour’s record investment in the NHS. 📉 We will keep pushing forward to make the NHS fit for the future.

Reform says it will build new immigration centres in areas that vote Green. Democratic politics is not punitive. Authoritarian politics is. Illegal immigration policy, including the location of any detention centres, should be based on national objectives and requirements, security, operational necessity, efficiency, and logistics such as access to airfields for removal, not on punishing whole communities for how some - perhaps a minority - of them voted. As a policy is not only inefficient, it’s confrontational and deliberately divisive. It’d set voters against voters and councils against central government when the real task is to restore national control. Furthermore, detention centres should be offshore, or at least remote and secure, not dumped into population centres as a political stunt. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/05/0…
