We met Lamin Kongira yesterday to hear his eye-witness account of what he saw as the fire started. Asked why he ran into the shop, into harm’s way, he said, “It was my duty as a citizen in Glasgow to help my city.”
Lamin has asked me to share one specific detail with people: that he’s currently homeless.
He says he has been homeless for 6 months and is now living in a hotel. He told me he’s been in Glasgow for over 16 years now, and he used to work with Glaswegians from a horse charity who came to his country of Gambia. He came here and made it his home, but after his marriage ended he lost everything. He asked me to share this because although he doesn’t want any thanks for risking his life to fight the fire, he does want people to understand how widespread homelessness is now in this city he loves.

Lamin Kongira is a hero. He ran into a burning vape shop to try & tackle the fire, warned people to stay away, & saved another man who made worse. Lamin originally from Ghana and living in Glasgow since 2009, told the BBC the only thing on his mind was "the survival of people."

@iamstillpunch Impact and how it captures the period it was released. Thats why imo even albums with lower sales when released can be classics, not everyone finds a piece of work when its current but they can understand how it captures the time. Impacts can have a build up too.
