The families of the victims have filed a lawsuit against the camp owners and directors for failing to follow proper procedures to protect campers' lives before the floods. Edward Eastland, the co-director of Camp Mystic, is on trial as the camp tries to reopen this summer, with 900 girls already signed up, and is being questioned about whether they followed the proper procedures during the flood. The family of Cecilia “Cile” Steward, 8, who is still missing, is trying to prevent the camp from opening due to repairing old cabins and destroying evidence.
