Week 1: Don't move. You are given distance D1. Week 2: Go 100 miles north. You are given a new distance, D3. Week 3: Go 100 miles east. You are given a new distance, D3. Draw three circles on your map based on your three starting points and their radiuses D1, D2, and D3. Where those three circles intersect is where the box is. You have 49 more weeks to hone in exactly. Good luck.

@KarlBrophy The ball carrier is tackled, dead. He then throws the ball about 2 meters forward. That is the definition of a forward pass.

@TheSolarShed 3%. The total area of the UK covered built-up areas is circa 8%. Think what an additional 3% would like and the ecological impact.

Covering 3% of the UK with solar would generate as much electricity as the UK uses in a year. We have the solutions.

Mandelson’s solicitors, Mishcons, wrote to the Met last night asking why the police said in Mandelson’s arrest interview - twice apparently, and noted by Mishcons - that the Lord Speaker warned them that Mandelson was planning to flee to the British Virgin Islands. The Lord Speaker has said he passed no such information. The Times is now reporting that it was the Commons speaker Hoyle who warned Mandelson was a flight risk - which Mandelson denies - following his visit to the British Virgin Islands. Hoyle has just told MPs: "I'd like to confirm upon receipt of information that I passed it on to the Met in good faith.” But a source close to Mandelson says “police were emphatic it was the Lords’ speaker” and his “lawyers checked specifically”. Presumably the arresting officers were told the tip-off came from “the speaker” and assumed it must be the Lords because Mandelson was a lord. Mystery solved, I guess.

@macpenfold I thought it was 50:50. France benefitted from 80% of the decisions. The only one Italy got away with is that France should probably have had a penalty try.

Every single French line out today should’ve been a penalty to Italy. The lifter is sealing off the jumper every single time. Poor referee.

Trump is trying to get Iran to make a deal. He says he would much rather do it peacefully than not. Trump moves some aircraft closer to Iran to send a message, he's serious. Starmer comes along and says you cant use UK bases, weakening Trump's bargaining position, and making Iran more likely to resist the pressure to make a deal without military action. This Starmer does after begging Trump to support his Chagos Deal by saying its the only way to secure the Diego Garcia base so it can stay open. But, when Trump wants to use Diego Garcia, Starmer refuses permission. It was the same in Ukraine. Every time Trump tried to get peace talks going, Starmer would jet off to see his mate Zelensky and promise to support Ukraine even more.

A panda walks into a bar... The bartender asks, "Would you like anything to drink?" The panda replies, "No thanks, I'm only here to eat." "So what would you like to eat?" "I'll just take the fries." The bartender serves the panda, who enjoys the meal. He asks, "Now, will your payment be cash or card?" The panda calmly replies, "Oh, just a card." After paying, the panda gets up and takes out a pistol. He fires a few shots in the direction of a few men, killing some in the process. The bartender, horrified, shouts, "What the hell was that for? You just killed 4 men!" The panda says, "I'm a panda, man. Look it up." The panda then abruptly exits the bar. The bartender, confused, looks up "Panda" on Google. The description said: The giant panda is a bear species endemic to China. It is characterised by its bold black-and-white coat and rotund body. Eats shoots and leaves.

For all of this century it’s always been easier for young folks to find work in the UK than in the EU, where youth unemployment rates were consistently higher than UK. It explains why so many young, educated, ambitious Europeans flocked to the UK to work, much to our mutual benefit. These days are over. Britain’s youth unemployment rate has risen above Europe’s for the first time: unemployment among 16 to 24-year-olds jumped to 15.3% in the three months to September, surpassing the EU’s rate of 15pc, according to the OECD. It marks the first time youth unemployment in Britain has been higher than in the bloc since records began in 2000. Labour policies — especially pushing up the minimum wage too much — are to blame. Even the Bank of England says minimum wage increases for pricing young people out of work. But raising national insurance contributions has also crippled many industries that employed young folks. Thanks Starmer-Reeves. Another fine success story.

Why it's been #raining every day this year.... The Jet Stream is meandering so an area of high pressure currently sitting over northern Europe is stuck. This has then blocked the areas of low atmospheric pressure from moving westwards and away from the British Isles. With nowhere for the low pressure to go, it has stayed over us. Hence the persistent precipitation since the start of the year.

My monologue on the startling revelations about Mandy & Andy in the latest batch of the Epstein Files: The latest batch of the Epstein files are causing even more waves on this side of the Atlantic than they are in America.  True, there are further embarrassing revelations concerning Bill Gates, Bill Clinton and even Donald Trump, though incendiary claims about the President are without corroboration. So even his many media enemies in the US are not touching them, at least not yet.  But the really juicy stuff centres on our very own Mandy and Andy, Peter Mandleson, formerly known as our man in Washington; and Andrew Windsor, formerly known as Prince.  Of course their reputations were already holed below the waterline by earlier exposure in previous Epstein files. Andy was stripped of his titles and dispatched to Royal Siberia by the King. Mandy had to resign as our ambassador to the US.  But this latest stuff is truly devastating.  Emails suggest Mandleson took $75,000 from the pedophile financier when he was MP for Hartlepool, a place further away from the world of Epstein it would be hard to imagine.  Mandy says he has no recollection or record of the money.  There was also a $10,000 loan to Mandleson’s long-term partner, now husband. Taken by him AFTER Epstein had served time for sex with a minor.  Then there’s a scheme to purchase a $2m apartment in Rio via a Panama shell company to avoid tax, for which the files show he sought Epstein’s advice. Again he says he has no recollection or record.  This morning there were even worse revelations. With claims that confidential documents on UK economic policy had been passed to Epstein useful to his rich banker friends.  These bankers were already lobbying the UK government to ameliorate a proposed special tax on bankers’ bonuses.  Mandleson was eager to be Epstein’s little helper — tell them to ‘mildly threaten’ the UK government, was his advice to Epstein. All this when he was business secretary.  Last night he resigned from the Labour Party. Many will wonder why he hadn’t already been kicked out.  But matters won’t end there. As further information surfaces more and more are wondering aloud if we’re looking at a case of misconduct in public office. As for our Andy, the one formerly known as Prince, well, it’s now clear that almost everything he told Emily Maitlis in that famous car crash of a BBC interview was untrue.  He stayed mates with Epstein even after it was clear he was a wrong ‘un. He remained on close terms even after Epstein had served time for paying underage girls to have sex with him. It made no difference to our Andy  Invitations to Buck House for dinner, Andy’s birthday, various lunches, attractive Russian women offered by Epstein, more embarrassing photographs. It’s all there in the latest Epstein disclosures.  As is, inevitably, his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, a world-class grifter always on the look out for a bung from anybody with dosh.  She regularly smarmed up to Epstein, even brandishing her daughters in her mission to turn Epstein into her personal cash dispenser. Which sometimes he was. Tawdry, demeaning, disgraceful. And now exposed for all to see. There is talk that both Andy and Mandy will be summoned to testify before congressional hearings.  The British government has indicated they should go. Now he no longer has Royal cover it might be harder for Andy to refuse.  Mandleson is a skilled politician who could probably survive the congressional inquisition, though there is nothing he can do or say now which would restore a reputation damaged beyond repair. But Andrew Windsor? Not exactly the sharpest pencil, even in a blunt royal box. Whose one attempt at public accountability contributed to his current disgrace? That would not go well. So we must hope it happens. Perhaps then he can go straight from Washington to live with his royal friends in Dubai. And we need never hear of him again.

@dshensmith I believe that most meat labeled as 'halal' is from beasts which have been legally stunned. Much less is from animals that have been slaughtered directly by cutting an artery.

The two key issues are these, and must absolutely be addressed: Labelling: All meat should absolutely be labelled properly, and if meat were clearly labelled Halal - I suspect many people would refuse to buy it Rationale: The law needs to change to reflect scope, not just rationale. i.e. The 'reason' religious slaughter is permitted is because this is all certain groups are permitted to eat This is the rationale, but not the scope - the law does not mandate that this meat is only supplied to those groups. It is effectively a loophole that means this is rolled out across the board without issue, for what was originally a minority exemption.
Lucy White@lucyjaynewhite1

Explained: Why serving halal meat across Britain on an industrial scale is a huge legal issue.
