Trucking capacity is the tightest it has been in years, with no relief coming anytime soon. The SCOTUS decision could result in the biggest trucking capacity purge in history. There are an estimated 1.2m trucks (36%) with no safety-rating. There are an estimated 300k trucks with a conditional safety rating. That is 1.5m trucks that have a broker can’t demonstrate is “safe” using government data. To put it in perspective, the compliance crackdown has taken an estimated 40k trucks out of commission since last June and we’ve seen what rates have already done.
