Do you guys think this is this just an edge case where reaction time works majority of the time but when it goes bad, it’s BAD…or is this a perverse outcome to the rule where reaction time intended to improve the sport, created new problems we didn’t realize we’d have?

30 seconds that should reshape what Folkstyle wrestling defines as a takedown. It shouldn’t be hard to understand that the offensive wrestler in this position should be rewarded for his efforts. If the officials continue to protect the defensive wrestler, we will continue to see less and less offense. What would you rather see? A shootout or a match decided in tiebreakers because of riding time? I know my pick.

@CoachAbon @dbeshada1 @MatScouts1 @baschamania It's not a no control issue, it's a time issue. With the slo-mo replay it appears there's about 0.2 or 0.3 seconds left when his back hits the mat and time expires from there during the following action. Live I thought it was a TD, but the replay made me think otherwise.

The Welsh-McEnelly issue was summarized perfectly by @MatScouts1 on @baschamania this morning - it may be something we all want to be a takedown, but simply isn’t one under the current rule set.
It truly was an amazing athletic performance by Welsh to avoid the takedown. Especially for an upper weight.
Here’s the slow mo replay of the entire sequence. Hand is not down when McEnelly gets fully behind, and Welsh was in a gramby position when time expired.
“Reaction time” means no takedown here.

@DTakedowns @ChrisBono I believe it was done this way as the old rule was being interpreted very differently depending on the official so now it's black and white and (should) be called the same for every match.

Coach- As a member of the rules committee - it was 100 percent warranted to put the head gear toss/ slide / drop / throw into the rule book … not hard to FOLLOW RULES . Keep it on. (
BTW - we fought to get rid of them / did not happen.

It appears that Cael believes it should be at the tournament and plans his schedule accordingly. A simple difference of opinion: it doesn't make anyone right, wrong, good, or evil.
