Birds-eye-view question for you in this debate… Given where AI is moving (and that adoption is slow), does agency or brand benefit most FIRST? And, will the people-reliant business benefit most, last? Because the labor was replaced by machines Said differently — is it more impactful for the brand team that is already lean, or for the bloated agency that may be slow to cut people (assuming that agency is more people-intensive than brand)

My agency friends are all starting brands. Here's why. I have three super smart close friends who went and built an agency first, now going into products. Makes total sense when I explain below: When you've spent years spending other people's money, your relationship with that spend for growth changes. You're not emotionally tied to it. You know how to deploy capital without feeling precious about every dollar. When you're a founder spending your own money it feels like "That's MY money." Agency people have built the skill of deploying capital effectively over years. It never leaves you and you leverage to learn for yourself when it is time. I see products and instantly know..that'll hit. The level varies, but I can see it. That's from managing $200M+ in ad spend. Everything right now is content, distribution, and digital marketing. If you understand those three things AND find a great product that’s a lethal combination. Thrasio got it wrong. Should've been incredible agency people who know growth, not numbers people trying to cut costs. You can't have one CMO running 20 brands. The CMO of Represent can't market to 46-year-old moms in Alabama. Product founders come asking "How do I make sales?" and have to rely on everyone else. How helpless is that? You can't move forward without XYZ person. Agency people already know. We've been in the weeds. We know what good marketing looks like. We're not waiting for someone to tell us what to do. Agency-to-brand is the move because we've already made all the expensive mistakes with someone else's money.
