This was horrendous this am. The Howard Franklin Bridge, also known as I-275, became a parking lot at 6:30 this am. LEO from everywhere descended on a black garbage bag lying in the middle of the interstate. After several hrs (and these poor people trying to get to work), it was finally released that in that garbage bag was the body of one of the missing USF doctoral students who have been missing for over one wk. This was the male's remains. The female is still missing. His roommate has been taken into custody after he barricaded himself in their apt. What did I like about Texas? The food. Damn good. What did I not like? 1) The heat and humidity is even worse than Florida. 2) I lived in the Houston Galveston area and the water at the beaches is brown. I remember also not being able to go to the beach because of fecal bacteria and oil spills in nearby Galveston Bay. 3) Concrete…everywhere! Plants some trees, show a little green! 4) Giant eyesore power lines. 5) Stinky refineries. I remember during the winter with a north wind a chemical smell would greet me at the bus stop before school. 6) Traffic! Some of the worst I have ever experienced. Houston is one hour away from Houston, lol.

A 34-year-old truck driver from New Smyrna, Florida, is dead after a hit-and-run early this morning. The driver of a dark Ford Mustang triggered a chain-reaction crash on I-75 in Manatee County. The Mustang was weaving in and out of traffic when it ran into a Chevy Trailblazer, which was thrown into the path of the semi. The driver of the Mustang stopped for a moment, then fled southbound on I-75. FHP is still searching for the driver. "Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at *347 (*FHP) or Crime Stoppers."
