How many people constantly look at their phones while playing regular flat games? Many. All the time. Or reaching for their drink and chips. Having good color passthrough is key to doing that with a headset — you’re not doing that with the #SteamFrame. Big mistake.

Unpopular opinion: while the #SteamFrame is super-cool, I don't think it will make a big impact on the #VirtualReality ecosystem. You can find my analysis here: skarredghost.com/2025/11/13/ste… Long story short: Frame is too expensive, too dedicated to gaming, and it introduces no disruptive features to really make a difference. It is like a Quest 3 made by Valve, and the Quest 3 is not having disruptive success. It may introduce some disruptions in the PCVR space, though. Most probably, it is the beginning of the end of lighthouse tracking, for instance. Of course, I hope to be wrong and to see this headset sell dozens of millions of units... but I don't think so. What's your take on all of this? Let me know here below!

@SkarredGhost Other headsets do offer a lot of those things, but do not have a great ecosystem to implement it with PC VR, or standalone for that matter. Quest probably won’t have full body anytime soon. These things matter to a lot of VR user especially on PC.

@SkarredGhost I think It’ll will have a bigger impact on vr than you think, It’s going to be very upgradable headset and have a software stack on headset that will support it. From face tracking add ons to fullbody support. Even rudimentary lighthouse support for trackers built in to a strap.

@TheFoxipso While yeah it would be cool if it was easier to do, you can already do this for the most part with a launch argument for vrc. I have friends that have been doing this for years for there home world. I think it still works.

VRChat needs a shared home feature, where select friends spawn into your home world. It'd be cute, like your most trusted friends can just show up, even if you're asleep. Looks like I'm not the first person to think of this too: feedback.vrchat.com/feature-reques…
