After what was a deeply memorable occasion celebrating the lives of our dearly departed grandparents and uncles, our family has been plunged into mourning. My Aunt Grace sadly passed away after our return from Njanja. She suffered a bad fall on Saturday, and although we initially thought it was a knee injury, it later emerged she had sustained a serious fracture. On Sunday morning, she woke up in severe pain and was rushed to a local clinic at Sadza Growth Point, before being transferred to Harare where she was due for surgery. Tragically, she suffered a heart attack brought on by underlying heart disease and did not make it. Aunt Grace, the youngest sister to Mhamha Rose, was 70. We will now be heading back to Njanja, where she will be laid to rest at the family shrine in Redhill, Friday, 17 April. We did not imagine that the joy and togetherness we experienced on Saturday, 11 April, would end this way. Rest in peace, Aunt Grace 😢

##NjanjaChronicles #TheHomecoming #TheKingIsAround Saturday 11 April will sit firmly in my history books ,one of the most memorable, emotional and deeply satisfying days, all wrapped up in a small bag of love. After a full year of planning, 35 grandchildren travelled from across the globe and gathered at the village in Redhill, Njanja, to honour and celebrate the lives and legacy of our dearly departed grandparents, Joseph Mackenzie Magende Pfende (15/10/1910 – 30/06/1988) and Helen Brooks (06/11/1918 – 17/08/1991). My grandfather settled in Redhill around 1940, where he established the first store in the area. A man of few words, but decisive in action. His story deserves more than a single post. My grandmother, Helen, was the daughter of Ambuya Chitema of Chihota and a Scottish immigrant who left soon after her birth. She was strong, hardworking, and deeply rooted in tradition. Despite standing out , light-skinned, with flowing hair , she became part of the community in a way that mattered. She worked the land tirelessly, alongside workers and, at times, us grandchildren during school holidays, while Granddad worked as a chauffeur for the MD of African Distillers in the 1970s. We also took time to remember our uncles. Roger Brooks-Pfende (10/03/1949 – 21/04/1981), whose life was tragically cut short after unknowingly drinking traditional beer laced with poison at a community function , an incident that shook the entire Denhere community. Onias George “Mapepa” Mackenzie Pfende (20/08/1947 – 20/06/1998) , a surveyor par excellence, a storyteller, and a man full of compassion. His work helped shape places like New Ardbennie Industrial area and Rufaro Stadium. Newton Brooks (10/01/1951 – 07/07/2024) , “the philosopher.” A wise, gentle man, a great listener, and one of those uncles I could run to for advice back in my dating days 😆 And Martin Brooks-Pfende (16/03/1942 – 22/10/2001) , a fighter and a brawler, loved his fast cars and everything that came with being the OG in the hood of Kong 😆 He worked at Salisbury Municipality, later Harare City Council. Worked hard. Played hard. For many of us, it was a remembrance and a reunion. Some cousins I hadn’t seen in 25 years. Some meeting for the very first time. There was laughter. There were stories. Drinks flowed, music carried through the night, and a strong team of murooras made sure no one went hungry. We sat around the fire until the early hours, reconnecting, remembering, and restoring something that time had quietly stretched. It was waaaay more than a gathering, it was a homecoming. And to say I need a recharge is an understatement. I’m off the grid Monday and Tuesday 😆

Greetings from Lusaka, I speak on behalf of all Africans in saying Senegal are the only AFCON Champions of 2026 Africans know. Anyone claiming to be a winner is forcing a relationship. Trophies are won on a football pitch, not in a boardroom. That's it. That's the tweet !!

So let me get this whatever the ‘Article 84’: Morocco accepted Senegal's return from their 10-minute walk off. Morocco gladly resumed play and took their penalty. Morocco missed the penalty, and lost the game. Then, same Morocco appeals to gain the trophy they lost on the field. Then CAF agrees to strip Senegal of the Afcon trophy and hand it to Morocco. What a shame @CAF_Online!

Filabusi to Hwange hardest trip I have ever experienced in my life. Picture the scene. There I was, hugging my sad, pregnant girlfriend goodbye, boarded a Sihube bus, carrying the full weight of the United Nations of regrets on my shoulders. Heavy head. Mind traveling faster than the bus. Boy what have you done😩 Terrible decision I had made was replaying in HD slow motion in my head. Beautiful fantasies gone like free Sapatina at a political rally. At some point I became convinced that everyone on the bus knew my story. The lady selling boiled eggs? Definitely judging me. The old man chewing peanuts? Also judging me. Even the conductor looked at me like he wanted to announce: “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard. Special announcement: we have one future father in emotional crisis sitting over there”. I kept my head down like a man who had just committed romantic criminality. No one to blame really😀 Arrived in Hwange. Next day - apprenticeship The four years ahead looked impossible. Unfortunately, news travels faster than Wi-Fi in small towns. Within one week my training officers caught wind. The ridicule began. “Look at him! He won’t even finish training”. “Boys and girls… don’t be like Taz.” I became a walking public service announcement. “Training Example Number One: What Not To Do.” It was painful. But deep inside I made a decision: Nothing was going to break me. Next - Meeting with SDA Church Elders. Now before all this drama, I was actually an Adventist Deputy Youth Leader. Yes. Deputy Youth Leader. Looking back, I don’t think I did a very good job. Everyone memorizing Bible verses, I was busy memorising my girlfriend’s smile. The picture below was taken after one of those Sunday afternoon AY meetings. Opportunity to see my girl. Others - “John 3:16…For God so loved the world………. “ Me “John 3:16… but have you seen the beauty sitting on the third bench from the back”. And to be fair, She was outrageously beautiful. Shy. Calm. Very intelligent. Many wondered how I won her. Many failed. History will record that I defeated many giants in the championship of love. Years later she told me something shocking. She said the day she arrived at Hwange Secondary School, she saw me and immediately decided: “That one. That one right there.” From that day she did everything possible to cross my path. Meanwhile I was walking around suffering from inferiority complex like a man who had mistakenly entered the wrong league. She came from a well-off family. I came from a very poor single-mother household, living in one small room. “Esinenini” But that is another story for another day. Church elders met - Disciplinary action. Stripped of my AY leadership role. Censured from church activities until further notice. Focus - Resolute. Because my girl, loved me when I was a nobody. My first salary? Saved. Second salary? Saved. Third salary? Saved. First few months of apprenticeship - fasting by force. Colleagues enjoyed apples, macaroni, nice lunches etc. I practiced AST(advanced starvation techniques.) One guy would walk past and say: “Mr Taz, future father, what are you eating today?” Then he would answer his own question. “Ahhh… Air Pie.” laughing. Whole group would burst into laughter. It never bothered me. My mind was somewhere else. All I could think about was my girl in the village, pregnant, probably more confused than me. I had to work hard. I had to redeem her from the shame. My own embarrassment? That one I parked somewhere and ignored. I also decided something else: I would not hate the people who mocked me. I took it as deserved punishment. End of March 1996, enough money saved to return to Filabusi. My brother chipped in. Idombo / Munyai was found. Messages sent to my girlfriend’s family. A meeting date was set. Redemption or total disaster. We return to Filabusi. Surprises, negotiations, tension, and possibly heart attacks were waiting for me.

AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP IS NOT A GENTLE BREEZE... 🤌🏾 ➡️ They said there was not ENOUGH action, and that his verses and prayers were what was keeping Zimbabweans from demonstrating and removing ZANU. They said “he should have done this” and “he should have done that”. 🗣️ ◾️ Some did a hostile TAKE OVER of the party. ◾️ Some used their influence as “journalists” to attack him daily and try to elevate their own preferred contenders. ◾️ Other “democrats” remained inside and outside of parliament to oppose the authentic opposition MORE than the Regime itself (opposition to the opposition...). AND SO... The People’s leader decided to step aside, and let those who can do it better have their chance to do so. 🤷🏾‍♂️ And SURPRISINGLY, instead of implementing the strategies and superior tactics they had been long advocating, the battalions of shrewd strategists and complainers, suddenly VANISHED! 💨 Some even followed Chamisa into his sabbatical, to continue hurling criticism and insults, instead of busying themselves implementing the ideas they had LONG talked about, and had admonished him for not taking up! 👀🙆🏾‍♂️ The man had taken a break from politics and left the arena WIDE OPEN for them to do whatever they wanted, to take on the regime... And what have Chamisa’s critics done in almost 2 years? ZERO. ZILCH. NADA. 🫴🏾 0⃣ ZANU PF has been chalking up grotesque win after grotesque win, UNOPPOSED. 🤔 ◾️ No ‘third force” has arisen from award-winning’s ranks (#WhiskeyIsInIt), despite multiple attempts to elevate dead horses. ◾️ CCC Hwende-Ncube-Tshabangu vanished into thin air in terms of resistance to ZANU, and now seem to exist just to rubber-stamp ZANU policies in parliament/senate. ◾️ Then there is that group of wishy-washy CCC politicians, within parliament and without, who exist on social media to throw indirect jabs at Chamisa, and attack and smear his supporters. They are full of criticisms, ideas, theories and advice, yet do ZERO to resist ZANU and make no effort to organize themselves into a coherent grouping and execute their many theoretical ideas... All TALK and zero action. 🤏🏾 What’s stopping them actioning their theories?? 🤷🏾‍♂️ I mean, if you view Chamisa as a flawed leader, why not move ON and go ahead with whatever methods you believe in? What are you waiting for exactly?? . Dear Zimbabweans 🇿🇼 – what you have seen CLEARLY is that leadership is not a game of hopscotch. It’s not a gentle breeze... Very FEW have the necessary mettle, skill, intelligence, charisma, courage, team-building skills, vision, and the ability to unite and inspire. Chamisa makes it look easy because he is a natural leader. But it is NOT. 🤌🏾 It’s easy to point fingers and criticize the one who is trying his BEST to lead in a very precarious, undemocratic, and incendiary political environment. It is only when THAT ONE steps aside, that you realize that those shoes are much too immense for you to fill. And that NONE OF YOU critics have the unique skills necessary to galvanize and lead in the political environment we exist in ... and so in your newly-realized inefficacy, all you can do is retreat back to the sidelines, in jealousy and rage - and continue to throw stones at the true leader. 😑 That is not opposition. You have lost your purpose. That is cowardice, jealousy and pettiness. Instead of taking on the fearsome REGIME, you choose an easier, cowardly path - to take on an individual. 🤦🏾‍♂️ If he’s not the leader you want, why not just move on and elevate the one of your choosing?? 👀 Or even form a NEW outfit altogether that operates in the way you have theorized? 🤷🏾‍♂️ You CAN’T. 🙂 Because you have no leadership skills, or ability to galvanize masses and organize. Only political wilderness awaits you out there. So you STAY, throwing jabs at Chamisa instead of opposing ZANU, because that is all you have the ability to do – in order to try to maintain at least some tiny semblance of RELEVANCY. 🤦🏾‍♂️ AND SO... Now here again today, we see the evidence of the hypocrisy of self-interested stomach merchants. Indeed, all those who had criticized President Chamisa for ‘lack of action’ have been exposed. 🙂🤷🏾‍♂️ A demonstration was called ... they were nowhere to be seen. 1⃣. Some advocated for the march from the comfort of living rooms in Joburg and London and assured people that this was the moment of change they had been waiting for, and that Chiwenga was the change they had been seeking all along, and that he would 100% be arresting Zvigananda this weekend and ascending to the throne. 👑 Now they are busy with writing excuses from their plush, luxurious dens in diaspora. 2⃣. Some took over the CCC Party, citing a lack of action and demos, but instead of backing up their TALK, when the mass demo was called, they vanished under beds and concealed themselves in closets, pretending they had never said, “demonstrations are the only way”. For almost two years, Advocate Nelson Chamisa stepped aside and let those with better ideas come to the FOREFRONT and lead the struggle against the regime. NOBODY stepped forward. Only Geza tried, flawed and partisan as he is... The critics who had long tried to tell Chamisa what to do, DISAPPEARED into the shadows to continue attacking him, instead of stepping up to lead and action their theorized strategies. 🤦🏾‍♂️ It is now CRYSTAL CLEAR. There’s only ONE game in town to galvanize the People and lead the fight against ZANU. It’s time for the bitter theorists to admit what is now obvious... Everybody needs to shed their pettiness, unite, and get behind the leadership of President Nelson Chamisa. ☑️ 🇿🇼

Whenever I post with machinery I get bombarded by my zim diaspora experts about Health and Safety , PPE and “you should”. Perfection is the enemy of progress. The west was built first, coal, asbestos, drilling , hard labour. The and only then , when they achieved and were prosperous , did they start all this other shit to slow you down. We have to work with what we have comrades. What we don’t have in money, we have in time. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
