These people don’t conform to society at large, they conform to their own tribe. They perform loyalty to signal that they belong. When no one in his in-group demands a boycott of Texas or Georgia, there’s nothing to conform to, so the idea never even occurs to him. At bottom, he’s simply a typical leftist, an old conformist parroting slogans, with no independent mind of his own.
