Civil Society Key Takeaways from the solutions given during the #FFD4 @AU_ECOSOCC Side Event on Amplifying African Voices & Advancing Sustainable Development through Sustainable Solutions. The event, offered significant insights and recommendations on the work civil society organizations have been doing in advocating for sustainable development in Africa. ECOSOCC Head of Secretariat @WilCarew summarized the key takeaways as : The Importance of Local Voices: Amplifying African voices is crucial for tailoring development solutions that are context-specific. Civil society has been consistent in ensuring that local communities, particularly marginalized groups, are included in dialogue and decision-making processes to address their unique needs and challenges. We cannot talk about sustainable solutions when citizens are not at the centre of the discourse. Sustainability is a Core Principle. Strategic Partnerships and collaboration among civil society, government, private sector, and international organizations. This is essential for advancing development goals. Building strong coalitions can amplify efforts, share resources, and create a unified voice for sustainable financing mechanisms tailored to African priorities. Accountability and Transparency. As we all know, ensuring accountability in financing and implementation processes is crucial and that is why civil society has been demanding for transparency from both public and private financing agents to ensure that funds allocated for development are used effectively and reach intended beneficiaries. Monitoring and Evaluation. CSOs have been involved in the monitoring and evaluation of development projects and financing initiatives. They have established clear metrics to assess the impact of development programs and how those efforts align with sustainable development goals (SDGs). Technology and Innovation. Leveraging technology can enhance the effectiveness of development initiatives. Civil society should explore how digital tools can support data collection, community engagement, and information dissemination, thereby facilitating more inclusive and participatory development processes. Policy Advocacy. Civil society must continue to advocate for policies that prioritize climate resilience, social equity, and inclusive economic growth. Engaging in policy dialogues at local, national, and regional levels will help bring the voices of affected communities front and center in development discussions. The takeaways serve as a roadmap for civil society organizations to enhance their role in financing for development in Africa. By prioritizing ampifying African voices and advancing sustainable solutions, we can significantly contribute to achieving the continent’s sustainable development goals. #TheAfricaWeWant

80% of people over 50 have joint damage. Most think it’s just aging… But it’s actually inflammation, nutrient loss, and years of silent damage no one taught you to avoid. Here’s how to reverse it naturally (no meds, no surgery):🧵

@MailSport Bunch of lunatics making all sorts of fake news about Utd. If Utd knew about his injury don’t you think they would have used it to drive his price down especially when the selling club was desperate to sell? Come on guys

I had the distinct honor to deliver a keynote address at the 20th anniversary of the AU’s ECOSSOC celebration in Accra - Ghana. I also launched the Organ’s first magazine - which details the profound role of civil society organizations in promoting democracy through advocacy.

This new month unfolds with big wins for Sierra Leone in June. Our international partners reaffirmed their faith in our vision and our governance record with huge pledges and grants. In the second half of this year and onward, we will continue to invest significantly in our Big Five Agenda with a focus on Feed Salone and investing in sustainable energy. We believe that these workable solutions, among others, will help transform Sierra Leone.

#England have to sacrifice quality in Trent & Foden for energy in Gallagher or Mainoo & pace in Gordon. Kane needs pace either side of him & Rice needs more help in midfield. Go 433 & drop Bellingham slightly deeper. #EURo2024

Gareth Southgate came into #EURo2024 & picked his best players. It hasn’t worked. He’s now got to pick his best team & sacrifice quality for pace & energy. England look shattered & can’t get the ball back off the opposition. telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/…
