@crennsmind I'd say the voltage drop is more than I'd like and it's running super slow. I pulled 13.8v from the board too, so I can try using a DC-DC drop tuned to 5.2v.

Today's challenge is finding out if there's 5V here that's stable enough to run the notoriously finicky Raspberry Pi 3.

@witnessmenow I always figured that meant the battery overvolt protection was built in to the cable.

Well this has me curious. It looks like a standard micro USB cable, but the light stays on when I use one I already have. Some investigation needed!
