Sierra just hit $100M in ARR, just seven quarters since we launched in February 2024. @claybavor and I are very grateful to our customers and proud of the Sierra team, who has redefined the meaning of intensity and craftsmanship. I have never had this much fun in my career. (Photo is Clay signing the contract that crossed the $100M mark) sierra.ai/blog/100m-arr

@sweatystartup I’m in the same boat and haven’t been able to find a solid drip machine w/o plastic parts. Considering trying a old-school percolator as a replacement, like this: a.co/d/6mURU7p

I need a new coffee maker. I love my pour over and espresso machine. I also have enjoyed my Bonavita 8 cup for a long time but I need a bigger machine and I don’t want any plastic parts. What is the best on the market?

Really excited to launch ProductCentral today! This is Airtable's first ever dedicated solution, and it reflects the best practices we've learned from working with the leading product organizations--from top AI companies to high growth centicorns to Fortune 500s--who have built their product operations on Airtable. As every company mobilizes their product teams to drive more aligned execution in the post-ZIRP/AI era, we've seen a consistent need for product leaders to see the forest *and* the trees. ProductCentral enables product leaders to roll up to a view of their strategic priorities as well as drill down to the team and execution level. We've also built ProductCentral to integrate with other systems to create a 360 view of the product development lifecycle--linking feature requests to customer records in Salesforce, extracting AI insights from customer calls and support tickets, tracking issues with JIRA, connecting to Workday for people resource data, and integrating operating metrics from Snowflake and Databricks. Digital product execution is becoming a critical competency for every company, and we're excited to work with product organizations in every industry to unify and align their execution.

Welcome @alon and Dopt team! We are thrilled to have you on the team 🙌
Alon@alon

🥁 Some big news to share: Dopt has been acquired by Airtable. We’ve joined the team to help build Airtable AI. I'm excited, but this is also a bittersweet moment. We’ll be shutting down Dopt’s services on August 15th. I know that’s soon--we gave our customers & users a heads-up early last month. If moving off in time will be difficult and we haven’t already spoken, DM me. We’ll be happy to help. When @crowprose, @philvb, and I started Dopt, we set out to give teams flexible, developer-friendly primitives that make it easy to level up the quality of their self-serve products. There are a lot of takeaways about what we got right and wrong that I’ll write up once I have a bit more distance. At the end of the day, we didn’t find as many companies that valued quality of experience to the degree that they were willing to put engineering effort towards it as we expected. The last three years have had their ups & downs, but we’ve earned some hard-won lessons about going from 0→1, what makes for the right (& wrong) balance of horizontal primitives vs use case-specific workflows, and what’s unique about exploring the solution space when building an AI product. When I met @maggioant, @howietl, @jimmyhillis_, and @__joshma and learned how the Airtable team was thinking about AI, it felt like a perfect fit. We’re long-time fans of Airtable. When we started Dopt, it was the lifeblood of our customer development process. The product has come a long way over the last few years and is now a full-blown no-code app builder that makes data, workflows, interfaces, and integrations accessible to non-developers. Living in the Bay Area and working in software, it’s easy to lose perspective on how unevenly distributed recent progress is. LLMs have so much potential to transform how people solve their day-to-day problems, but they’re still black boxes to most. Airtable has the potential to make AI accessible, giving people the tools and agency to scale themselves. Letting them solve their problems so they can be more productive, creative, and ambitious. Outside of a much-developed appreciation for how a small team can do big things, the most meaningful thing I’m taking away from Dopt is a deep gratitude for everyone who helped us along the way: - The customers that took a big bet on an early product. A special shoutout to Ben, Kevin, @gauravvohra , and the Superhuman team; we couldn’t have asked for a better first customer. - The Dopt team, past and present: @alexchantastic, @karthikramen, Maria, Mike, Chase, Pankaj, Carlos — Dopt wouldn’t exist without your hard work and deep care. - Our investors, @sandhya at Unusual Ventures and @benblumenrose & @EnriqueAllen at Designer Fund, and a long list of wonderful angels and advisors. Y’all were always so generous with your time, advice, candid feedback, and support. Building Dopt has been the highlight of my career, and I’m excited about what we'll build next at Airtable. If you’re an Airtable user and have feedback about how we can make the product do more for you, drop me a line.

Really excited to launch this today!! This represents the second of two ways in which we're disrupting ourselves with AI. The first, which we launched in March, was about making Airtable the easiest way to deploy the leading LLMs into departmental data and workflows. The second, today's launch, is about using AI to *build* apps. AI app-building will radically tilt the "build custom app vs buy prebuilt solution" equation in favor of the former. Traditional enterprise software development is expensive and slow, but its even greater problem is the disconnect that results between the software developers building an app and the business stakeholders who need the app. The entire founding premise of Airtable and the no code category we pioneered is to enable the people closest to their own business context and requirements to build the apps they need, and to easily change them as the requirements evolve. Especially in industries and functions undergoing a high rate of transformation (eg media, tech, retail, finserv), this approach is critical for companies to stand up the operations they need to adapt and execute on this new era. For instance, retailers spinning up digital commerce operations and the resultant omnichannel approach marketing. Or media companies building up their streaming operations and overall accelerating their pace and volume of content production, as well as marketing operations. The magic of applying AI to the app building problem is that modern LLMs already come pretrained with an understanding of these industry dynamics and the rough shape of the operations needed to execute in this era. And can be guided to combine that context with the more specific requirements of a business unit owner to instantly generate a useful, highly specific app. Best of all, when the app is generated as a no code app, all of its data, logic, and interface structure are made easily understood and directly manipulable by the customer. Unlike with AI-generated software code, which is understandable/inspectable/editable only by developers. That's why we're calling it Cobuilder. The best way to leverage LLMs to build applications for a business use case is to bring the AI generation and human user as close together as possible, with no code as the common language between them. My cofounder @aofstad will remember my decade-ago ruminations about a future in which you could “talk to Airtable to have it build your app.” A decade and 50M+ Airtable apps later… this is by far the biggest accelerant to deliver on that mission. To the entire community of team members, customers, and Airtable builders that have gotten us here, thank you. And I couldn't be more excited to join together on the next decade ahead! Try it here! We even allow you to generate an app pre-signup : ) airtable.com/platform/app-b…

News: Airtable has launched Cobuilder, a new AI tool that can generate an app from just a prompt. I spoke to CEO Howie Liu about the startup's biggest release in 5 years - and why, after a brutal period of layoffs, Airtable is back eyeing a future IPO. forbes.com/sites/alexkonr…
