In 1974, Patty Hearst was dragged screaming from her apartment and thrown in the trunk of a car. Fifty-nine days later, she was robbing a bank with the people who kidnapped her. On the evening of February 4, 1974, armed members of a radical group burst into a Berkeley apartment, beat up 19-year-old Patty Hearst's fiancé with a wine bottle, threw her in the trunk of a car, and drove away. She was the granddaughter of newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst. The SLA knew exactly who they had taken. The Symbionese Liberation Army had already shot two Oakland school officials, ki*ling one. They began releasing audiotapes demanding food distribution to the poor in exchange for Hearst's release. Her parents distributed $2 million worth of food across the Bay Area. The SLA refused to release her. Then came the tape that stunned America. Fifty-nine days after her kidnapping, Hearst announced on tape that she had chosen to join the SLA and fight, taking the name Tania after a comrade who had fought alongside Che Guevara in Bolivia. The Hibernia Bank robbery occurred shortly afterward on April 15, netting $10,692 and resulting in two bystanders being shot. Security camera footage showed Hearst holding an assault rifle and ordering customers to the floor, announcing "I am Tania." Six core SLA members were ki*led in a Los Angeles police raid in May 1974. Hearst was not there. She spent the next year on the run. When she was finally arrested in September 1975, she told the booking sergeant her occupation was "urban guerrilla." Represented by F. Lee Bailey, she was convicted of armed bank robbery and sentenced to seven years. President Carter commuted her sentence. President Clinton gave her a full pardon on his last day in office. She later described it as Stockholm Syndrome.

@historyinmemes Doesn’t really add up how she felt she transcended any form of cultural norm, that speaking to her was unacceptable to the point where violence was an adequate response… These are the actions of a deeply troubled individual.

In 1996, singer Björk was surrounded by paparazzi at an airport in Thailand when an approaching reporter greeted her with, “Welcome to Bangkok.” Björk suddenly grabbed the reporter by the hair and pulled her to the ground. The reporter later chose not to pursue criminal charges.

@DaveShapi Ok, I think perhaps this is just the billionaires way of saying ha ha look I don’t care about you modern day peasants, it’s really a message for his peer group and if you understand it and you don’t think it’s funny then interestingly you’re not part of his group.

This is not actually Jevons paradox. This is unmet demand, or latent demand. Once the actual need for medical imaging is saturated, you don't just get more and more x-rays. So either he's stupid or lying. My bet is on lying. Billionaire goes on TV and says that the technology he's building won't hurt jobs. Uses fancy sounding economics terminology to confuse the masses.

Jeff Bezos argues that AI in radiology follows Jevons Paradox AI won’t replace radiologists, but rather increase demand for them by expanding what’s possible in medical imaging

@WallStreetApes Classic classic trope for restaurants they hate it when you bring your own cake because they have to do the dishes and don’t make a penny it literally cost them to do your dishes right? And if you didn’t buy the cake from them; problemo. 😅😅😅

The $110 really is just to cut the cake. A friend brought the cake for her and they just asked the restaurant to cut it Prices in Los Angeles are out of control but this is just being ridiculous
