The brutal truth is the SEC had about 9,860 jobs in the Latrobe Valley in 1988, dropping to 5,660 by 1993 .. around 4,200 jobs lost under Labor before Kennett even took office. It was Labor premier Joan Kirner who began the privatisation process .
