Two German friends came to visit me in Texas over a decade ago. Naturally I took them to the Fort Worth Rodeo. They absolutely LOVED it. The only part that puzzled them was when a cowgirl galloped on horseback around the ring with a Coca Cola flag. They asked, “Isn’t this government funded?” I said “Nope”. That surprised them.
They also loved the steakhouses I took them to but I could not get them to order steak properly- they always wanted well-done.

Yes, that is true to some extent, but the amount of smoke from burning cities etc, would still impact the climate.
The reason old nukes were in the 2 to 10 mT range was because of accuracy: If they overshot the target by 3 or 4 miles, they were still guaranteed to destroy it. Nowadays, the weapons are far more accurate, so they don't need as much explosive power. That being said, even a 500kT weapon could really ruin your day.

Earthbound is often only credited for its cultural and stylistic impact but it was also ahead of its time in some other ways. Rolling HP, the fact that it's one giant, connected map with no "overworld", and this. It had this in 1994. It's not all just "quirk chungus RPG"
