Marking Year 11 mocks and they did worse than their last mocks. How is that even possible...

@CSapience That's daft. Only someone who has never done it nor spoken to staff about them would do this. Mind you, at a previous job, all speaking exams had to be done in the holidays so teaching and learning wasn't disrupted...

A colleague told me that a member of extended SLT had decided the speaking mocks needed to be 12 minutes long exactly and run straight through in order to be cost effective, no gaps, no room for feedback, comfort etc. why do people do this? #mfl

@CSapience @CassHT i refuse to do this for mocks - I mark role play and photo as they are soing it - make notes in gen cov and then five mtself a few minutes after theyve left to make a decison. any that i steiggle with i listen dueing that day. Not 100% but im not going to re listen to all

@CassHT I feel your pain. Been marking mock speaking exams - you have to relisten to every minute of every single one

I spent most of today marking mock SATs and I feel like I’ve been completely cheated out of a weekend. Sometimes the workload is just so overwhelming and even though I’m only heading into week 2 I feel very very wobbly. Big love to anyone else feeling low tonight. I feel you♥️

@Miss_S_Phillips @SFL2326 agree .. sometimes its the only time you catch up with students that you may no longer teach etc or you see someone you kno would find something interesting

1/ Our corridors echo with silence as students transition in single file, on the left and facing forward. Punctuality is impeccable; truancy is nonexistent. Leaving early passes are unnecessary. The lines provide structure and guidance.

@SFL2326 @need_coffee_now surely just have a one way system the line is a bit much- what happens if you are nit on the line or are talking ?

@kennedy_tierney Hard cap on class sizes and a comprehensive, standardised, evidence based curriculum of all key learning areas that would require no (very little) planning for teachers. Or if that’s wishful thinking, maybe just free coffee 🤣

@gianfrancocont9 my students love this ! it is not much prep and we add in them writing it towards the end ( good to practise spellinfs and capitals for nouns in German!) takes a whole lesson easily

PYRAMID TRANSLATION One of my favourite creations and activities for structured oral production. An extract from our teaching sequences chapter in our forthcoming book. The aim is to practise extending chunks and manipulating patterns. Note: the referee has the answer sheet.

Where have schools that have a two week half term got the extra week from? Looked at one school’s dates with 2 weeks and they even finish two days earlier than us in the summer?!

@missdcox Is it a longer day? We don’t have a 2 week half term but we do have 6 lessons a day and over a year that must add up to a few additional days.
