In 2024, the question paper was leaked and FIRs were registered across six States and transferred to the CBI...Within two years, another paper leak has occurred and the examination has been cancelled. This is conclusive proof of flaws and structural flaws in a national level exam. The Governments of Tamil Nadu, has been consistently and unanimously opposing NEET since its very inception. The introduction of NEET has severely disadvantaged the students from rural areas, Government schools, Tamil medium backgrounds, and socio-economically disadvantaged families. The Government of Tamil Nadu reiterates the State long pending demand to abolish NEET and permit the States to fill all seats under the State quota in MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH courses on the basis of Class 12 marks."

Overall pass percentage for Class XII in 2026 stood at 85.20%, down by 3.19 percentage points from last year’s 88.39%. A total of 17,80,365 students registered for the examination in 2026, of which 17,68,968 appeared and 15,07,109 passed. The examinations were conducted from February 17 to April 10, 2026, while results were declared on May 13, 2026. The number of schools participating increased from 19,299 in 2025 to 19,967 in 2026. The number of examination centres rose from 7,330 in 2025 to 7,573 in 2026. Top performing regions (Pass Percentage): 1. Trivandrum – 95.62% 2. Chennai – 93.84% 3. Bengaluru – 93.19% 4. Vijayawada – 92.77% 5. Delhi West – 92.34% Lowest performing regions: Prayagraj – 72.43% Patna – 74.45% Noida – 79.02% Bhopal – 79.43% Delhi Region Performance: Delhi East recorded a pass percentage of 91.73%. Delhi West recorded 92.34%. Overall Delhi region pass percentage stood at 91.97%. Foreign Schools Performance: Pass percentage in foreign schools stood at 90.50% in 2026, compared to 95.01% in 2025. Gender-wise Performance: Girls outperformed boys by 6.73 percentage points. Girls’ pass percentage: 88.86% Boys’ pass percentage: 82.13% Transgender candidates recorded 100% pass percentage.

A team of CBI arrives at the Delhi office of the National Testing Agency in connection with the probe into the NEET UG 2026 exam paper cancellation over allegations of paper leak: Sources

The West Bengal government has taken strict action against illegal tolls and drop gates in the state. The instructions issued by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Agarwal have said that all toll gates, drop gates and barricades operating without government approval must be closed immediately. The district administration has been instructed to identify the illegal toll collection centres in their areas and take immediate steps to remove them. At the same time, it has been asked to keep an eye on the development of such illegal collection centres in the future. The instructions also mention that any kind of money collection at unauthorised toll points must be stopped immediately. Along with this, it has been ordered to prepare a list of all legal and illegal toll collection centres and submit it to the Under Secretary by 12 noon on May 15.
