We warned this kind of rule would create absurd situations. Under the new SCGOP rule, Darline likely doesn’t meet the voting requirement to appear on the special primary ballot. If she files for Senate, the State Executive Committee will now have to vote on whether to grant her a waiver. Some insiders I'm told feel hoodwinked, that the idea of Darline was pitched to them as a placeholder and not someone who would ever consider running. Will be interesting to follow as we may be voting on granting our first waiver for this rule that's less than a month old.
