Lufthansa group has already mandated for powerbanks to be kept in the cabin luggage that you stow under your seat (not allowed in the luggage racks above). Also, they may not be operated: meaning they can't be used to charge your electronic devices, and you are not allowed to charge them using in-seat power. The number is limited to 2.

Power Banks on airplanes worry me the most. Never pack them in a checked bag. The cargo compartment has a fire detection system, and a gas fire suppression system (like halon, but I don’t recall if that’s it). Still, we can’t get into it in flight to fight a fire. For carry on, pack it where it’s easily accessible. The idea will be to remove it & put it in a “fire bag” which are pretty effective at containing battery fires. That’s harder to do if you’ve packed it beneath a bunch of stuff that may now also be on fire. If you drop your phone in the seat & can’t find it, do NOT move your seat. You may crunch the phone & ignite the battery. Ask a Flight Attendant for assistance. A cabin fire is at the top of most of our worst nightmares. The Oxygen masks won’t drop – they don’t seal, so it won’t keep smoke out & now we’re feeding pure oxygen to a fire. We’ll be diverting immediately, but it will take time to get on the ground. If the smoke gets too bad, we can “dump” the cabin pressure if needed & clear it out pretty quickly, but that’s a last resort & wont work well below 10,000’ or so. I’ve been told China is starting to ban power banks on airplanes. We may eventually get to that point here. If you have to bring one, make sure it’s in good condition. If you have one of those suitcases with a built in battery, just be aware you’ll have to remove it before checking your bag. If it’s carry on, make sure you can get it out of the bag quickly if needed. Thank you & fly safe!

Artemis Mission Route in 3D - This animation visualizes the Artemis mission trajectory in a dynamic 3D perspective, showing how the spacecraft travels through the Earth–Moon system while all celestial bodies are in motion. Instead of a static path, the Sun, Earth, and Moon move simultaneously, revealing the true complexity of orbital mechanics. The result highlights how the Artemis route is not a simple curve, but a constantly shifting trajectory shaped by gravity and motion. This view provides a clearer understanding of how modern space missions navigate through space in real time. Right now, Artemis is on its return path to Earth and is expected to arrive back soon as it completes its mission. The sizes and distances of the Sun, Earth, and Moon are not to scale and are adjusted for visual purposes.

A single scratch on your nonstick pan releases millions of toxic chemicals into your dinner. Researchers in Australia have uncovered a startling health hazard hiding in plain sight in kitchens across the globe. Using advanced imaging technology, scientists found that even a minor scratch on a Teflon-coated pan can release upwards of 9,000 plastic particles and millions of microplastics during cooking. These "forever chemicals," known as PFAS, are engineered to resist heat and stains but are notoriously difficult for the human body to break down. Linked to severe health issues including cancer, infertility, and developmental disorders, these toxins have already been detected in the bloodstreams of 99% of Americans, highlighting a pervasive environmental crisis. Despite the known risks, federal regulations remain limited, leaving consumers to navigate a marketplace filled with PFAS-laden products ranging from cookware to bedding. Experts suggest that the safest path forward is a return to traditional materials like stainless steel or seasoned cast iron, which do not shed toxic particles under heat. As some states move toward banning these chemicals in consumer goods, the responsibility of minimizing exposure often falls on the individual. Making the switch now could prevent years of chemical accumulation in the body, offering a simple yet effective way to protect long-term family health. source: Luo, Y., Gibson, C. T., Chuah, C., Tang, Y., Naidu, R., & Fang, C. (2022). Raman imaging for the identification of Teflon microplastics and nanoplastics released from non-stick cookware. This family just got an IKEA kitchen delivered to their new home. It’s 210 packages, and many people say the instructions are almost nonexistent, it’s just diagrams. He’s going to have to unbox every part and arrange it in a way that can be identified so that will help with the frustration, many people who bought this quit out of frustration and tried to return it. Whenever people order kitchen sets like this, should it at least come with better instructions or at least a video, have you ever tried to put something together and the instructions weren’t clear and you ended up messing it up?

NASA says some of the Apollo landing sites will be visible at the very beginning of the Artemis II lunar flyby on Monday. They’ll say exactly what ones in the daily briefing tomorrow. That means moon landing deniers are going to have real bad day on Monday.

@heynavtoor @ChriHub Only works for personal notifications, as bulk will get you flagged by any carrier. And for personal notifications, nowadays hardly anyone needs SMS. So yes, nice concept, but I don't see a use for it.

🚨 Twilio charges $0.0079 per SMS. Someone just turned any old Android phone into a free SMS gateway. Unlimited messages. $0. It's called SMS Gateway for Android. Install it on any Android phone. It becomes a full SMS sending and receiving server with an API. No Twilio. No MessageBird. No per-message pricing. No contracts. Just an old phone and a SIM card. Here's what's inside this thing: → Send and receive SMS through a REST API from any app or service → Works with any Android phone running 5.0 or newer → End-to-end encryption. Messages are encrypted before they leave the device. → Multi-SIM support. Use multiple SIM cards on one phone. → Multi-device support. Connect multiple phones to the same account. → Real-time webhooks for incoming messages → Multipart messages with auto-splitting for long texts → Track delivery status of every message in real time → No registration required. No email. No account in local mode. Here's the wildest part: That old Android phone in your drawer that you haven't touched in 2 years? Install this app. Insert a SIM card. You now have your own private SMS infrastructure. Two-factor authentication. Order confirmations. Appointment reminders. Notification alerts. All the things startups pay Twilio thousands a month for. Free. Running on a phone you already own. Startups spend $500 to $5,000/month on SMS APIs. This costs the price of a SIM card. 875 GitHub stars. 359 commits. Apache 2.0 License. 100% Open Source.
