When Allyson Felix became pregnant, Nike threatened to cut her sponsorship contract by almost 70% because of her pregnancy. They told her: “You should know your place… and just run.” Amid all this, at seven months pregnant, Allyson had to undergo an emergency C-section due to a serious complication. Her baby girl spent over a month in the neonatal intensive care unit. But two years later, Allyson qualified for her fifth Olympic Games, with her daughter in the stands cheering her on. Allyson left Nike. And she founded her own shoe brand: Saysh One. At the Tokyo Olympics, she ran wearing her own sneakers, carrying the motto: “I know exactly where my place is.” With 11 medals, she surpassed Carl Lewis and became the most decorated American track and field athlete in history. And to all women, she gave this message: “I raised my voice and built this company for you, so that you’ll never have to train at 4:30 in the morning, five months pregnant, just to hide it from your sponsor.” ❤️

Basta chiagni e fotti ! Ognuno a casa sua !

So according to Emanuela, you can run a marathon after 6 months of training. I don't know healthy people who can do that, maybe a few exceptional ones. PaLIEstinians are still claiming starvation due to jewish blockade, and every day, all day long, I hear that ceasefire is broken.

@koenjde @mamoun_linda It doesn’t seem very accurate to me to compare people just liberated from people who have been in a ceasefire for more than 6 months. Plus judging 10 ppl over a population of 2M seems also very superficial.

@idiot_du_ville @JamesTate121 What about the billionaires that exploit their workers, that deny heath insurance, that inflate the house market creating a financial crisis, that pollute the soil, the sea and rivers and that bomb countries just because they want to make a quick buck? What do we do with them?

Ok. How about lazy people? People that make bad decisions. Like no contraceptives. Drugs. Don’t study. Don’t exercise. Don’t follow rules. Honestly, answer this question. This is the downfall of socialism. Lazy people that work the system. Why should I work my tail off to support people that don’t care?

A 17-year-old in Iowa boiled beets in her chemistry class and turned them into stitches that change color when your wound gets infected. Her name is Dasia Taylor. It started as a science fair project. She wanted a low-tech version of the "smart stitches" Tufts researchers built in 2016. Those used thread wired up with sensors and a tiny chip that pinged your phone if something went wrong. Cool, but useless without a phone or a hospital that can afford it. Her version doesn't need any of that. Healthy skin is slightly acidic, like lemon juice but much milder. When bacteria grow in a wound, the chemistry flips and turns more like soap or baking soda. Beet juice has a quirk. The same red pigment that stains your fingers when you cook it shifts color based on what it touches. Bright red on healthy skin. Dark purple on infected skin. The switch lines up with infection almost exactly. She tested ten threads before finding a cotton-polyester blend that soaked up the dye and changed color within five minutes. That was the prototype. Around 1 in 40 American surgeries end in an infection at the cut, costing hospitals more than $3 billion a year. In poorer countries the rate is closer to 1 in 9. In parts of Africa it's 1 in 6. In some Ethiopian hospitals, up to a quarter of surgery patients leave with an infection. The whole game is catching it early. Spot it in time and antibiotics handle it. Miss the window and the patient is back on the operating table. Dasia filed a patent in 2021 and started a medical device company called VariegateHealth in 2022. The stitches haven't been tested on real patients yet. New medical device patents can take a decade. She's also looking into a side benefit: the beet pigment kills bugs like E. coli and Klebsiella in lab tests. Smart stitches need a phone to read them. Hers just need eyes.

I tried to attend the @OntariosDoctors annual general meeting tonight in Ottawa, and was removed from the room by members of their executive team Sandy Zidaric and Adam Farber because I wore my watermelon pin that I’ve worn countless times without issue in many spaces including on parliament hill. They cited the concern that the watermelon pin as a political symbol could possibly make other physician colleagues in the room “uncomfortable” or “unsafe”. All the while genocide continues in Palestine. When I asked if their policy of what could not be worn on the bodies of their members in their meetings have applied to any other political symbols or attire, they could not give me other examples. They asked me to remove the watermelon pin or leave the room, or sit in another room by myself to tune into the meeting virtually. I declined and left. I explained to them this is an incredibly disappointing and discriminatory policy for their meetings, and I hope it is revised. I know medical colleagues including medical learners who have been kicked out of clinic because they wore a watermelon pin. These are examples of anti-Palestinian racism. As a physician, I stand in solidarity with my Palestinian medical colleagues who have been killed by the Israeli military and continue to be subjected to genocidal violence. Over 1,700 Palestinian healthcare workers have been killed by the Israeli military in Gaza. Many Palestinian healthcare workers remain in Israeli captivity and are being tortured by the Israeli military, including Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a paediatrician who stayed to care for his patients in the hospital he was the medical director of. Shame on @OntariosDoctors for not only censoring what is allowed to be displayed on the bodies of their members, and even more so to be painfully silent in the face of attacks on our medical and healthcare worker colleagues in Palestine. Don’t look away from the genocide in Gaza. These acts of discrimination are forms of racism, and racism is a distraction from the real issue of ending Canadian complicity in Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

@manuzco @NoahHurowitz Oh you’re right yeah, I guess that makes the 400,000 dead Yemenis that Saudi Arabia & her allies have killed from their own Saudi territory okay then. 🤓 And I guess, that also means rh 673,000 dead in Syria in their civil war and by ISIS insurgents also okay. 🥸 Smut.

They’re not joking. What is it? Why is it international law us only expected to be followed by Israel, broken by all of the Islamic terror States who you shill and are a Cuck for, but nothing ever happens when they mark daily violations? @DrunkRepub That won’t be a problem anymore since US troupes are heading home and finally Nato bases will return to sovereign countries. Then Americans won’t have any more excuse but to pay more taxes so you can get free healthcare.
