Quick reminder from a pediatrician that 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 year old girls are not young women. They’re children. I only care for children and my patients are those ages. Stop trying to make it better by calling them young women. They aren’t.

Hygiene: Wash your hands like your life depends on it. 4. Vaccines: Check your records for MenACWY/MenB when you have a minute. It’s the ultimate insurance policy.

@russell31xx It actually did - my 2 yr old son’s cancer treatment. A mother fights anything threatening her child with all she has, but it takes a hefty toll on the mind, body, and spirit. The situational depression - hitting 6 months after treatment - hospitalized me for 2 weeks

no matter how strong you are, there was a relationship that almost took you to the mental hospital.

@ThrillaRilla369 The way this question is asked it sounds as if the person is marrying a sugar daddy. For most, the homemaker actually has an awful lot of responsibilities and works hard to ensure that the family stays on budget while living as a one income household. Cozy really isn’t the word.

To the women who are on this app, be honest If you could stay home, raise babies and run a cozy homemaker life.. Would you??

@m_janelee @gretchemaben Don’t be fooled. There’s a number of people who aren’t doing either. You’d be surprised at how much porn is purchased at the hotels during those conferences. Early in my career, I had to manage some of those expenses.

academic conferences are crazy because it’s like Let’s go to the most beautiful place in the world and then look at powerpoints for 12 straight hours

@Sassafrass_84 Or make children's health a priority. The #1 disease killer of kids in #ChildhoodCancer and most have no idea about it, or that we don't appropriate fund support for treatment nor research for better treatments that don't injure them for a lifetime.

We have all the money in the world to fund nato, foreign wars, "foreign aid," etc. But we somehow don't have enough money to fund schools with security or nutritional food. Our children deserve this. Our priorities are ass backward.

@johnnymerg @stevemagness I'd introduce a third group, those who simply allow their kids to play with other good athletes. Many of us realize there is no scholarship at the end. And don't live & breathe it ourselves. But hearts explode with love when your son is with his buddies doing what he loves.

I remember two types of parents who have their kids on travel leagues. The first was the parents who make this their entire social existence, taking about team performance, complaining about being tired from driving, bragging they needed a truck or SUV to haul all the equipment, and never shutting up about it in general. The second group I've met were the parents farming a college scholarship for their child, and their child has an MCL or ACL repair before graduating high school. I'm sure there's more than that, but those are the two types I remember running into.

Can someone explain why some 10 year old needs to travel hundreds of miles for competition that they almost certainly could have found locally? Travel leagues for youth sports should be banned.

@miles_commodore Schedule a session with your bank to teach this if you don't want to yourself. School isn't for everything - everyone is already overwhelmed there. The key to improving life skills for today's teens is not to cram more content in school. Parents, you can teach your children too.

Every public high school in America should be teaching how credit cards work, how to get a mortgage, and what mutual funds are and how they function. 16th century English literature is great, but how about equipping our children with what they need in the REAL world.

Families ensure progress, even if it’s slow. The #1 disease killer of our children SHOULD be a national priority - but it’s not.

This is not a "cute" story. It's a sign of a failing society.
