@atufaishere @RioDanceOnSand I questioned the 80%. There are a lot of ways that women vocalize pain without speaking honestly and directly. But I also question only 20% of women speaking honestly about their pain.

80% of women use silence to express pain. You know she's truly hurt when she chooses to ignore you.

@hell_line0 @coachsdaughter5 Why does it have to be black-and-white? There are children and there are adults - and if you’re missing a huge category in between you’re doing it wrong. And for my sons, having an adolescent primary care physician made all the difference in the world.

Quick reminder from a pediatrician that 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 year old girls are not young women. They’re children. I only care for children and my patients are those ages. Stop trying to make it better by calling them young women. They aren’t.

🚨Senate Democrats just BLOCKED legislation to BAN men from competing in women’s sports, vote went down 49-41. They literally voted to keep biological males in girls locker rooms, on girls’ podiums, stealing scholarships and titles from female athletes.

@DocPriyamMD @RagtagRealist My sister barely made it - had the headache. She was ten. Within two hours my mother couldn’t wake her up. Rushed her to the hospital. Thank you John’s Hopkins for all you do.

The "Headache" that kills in 24 hours.🧵 As a doctor, this is the one diagnosis that genuinely scares me. Bacterial Meningitis doesn't give you days to "wait and see." It gives you hours. By the time you realize it's not just a flu, it’s often too late. 👉Stop scrolling and memorize these 3 clinical red flags: 1. The Fused Neck: This isn't a "stiff muscle" from sleeping wrong. If you have a fever and literally cannot touch your chin to your chest - that is Nuchal Rigidity. It’s an emergency. Period. 2. The "Glass Test" Rash: If you see tiny purple pin-pricks on the skin, press a clear glass firmly against them. If the spots don't fade/disappear under the glass, your blood is leaking. That’s Septicemia. Run to the ER. 3. Agonizing Photophobia: It’s not just "bright lights are annoying." It’s a physical, painful wince at a smartphone screen or a bedside lamp. 👉How to actually stay safe? 1. Mask up in crowds: It’s a respiratory drop infection. If there’s an outbreak in your school/hostel, a mask is your best friend. 2. Stop sharing everything: Vapes, spoons, water bottles, cigarettes. If their saliva is on it, the bacteria is on it. 3. Hygiene: Wash your hands like your life depends on it. 4. Vaccines: Check your records for MenACWY/MenB when you have a minute. It’s the ultimate insurance policy.

@AtlasMD Healthcare got more expensive because we aren’t healthy. We need to shift how we live - preventing more, exercising more, eating, healthier food, and taking better care of our mind/emotions. Convincing the world that healthcare is supposed to correct neglected health is a fantasy

Moms of kids in #ChildhoodCancer treatment or #Survivorship, we see you, we hear you, we are with you. We do this one day, sometimes one hour, at a time. Here’s to hoping this day brings about improved health and living life more fully. For the entire family 💛💛💛

@russell31xx It actually did - my 2 yr old son’s cancer treatment. A mother fights anything threatening her child with all she has, but it takes a hefty toll on the mind, body, and spirit. The situational depression - hitting 6 months after treatment - hospitalized me for 2 weeks

@ThrillaRilla369 The way this question is asked it sounds as if the person is marrying a sugar daddy. For most, the homemaker actually has an awful lot of responsibilities and works hard to ensure that the family stays on budget while living as a one income household. Cozy really isn’t the word.

@m_janelee @gretchemaben Don’t be fooled. There’s a number of people who aren’t doing either. You’d be surprised at how much porn is purchased at the hotels during those conferences. Early in my career, I had to manage some of those expenses.

@under_score317 @kevinxu Making good decisions isn't hard. But maybe not common. I don't consider it lucky. My brother and sister did the same. It comes down to how you make the decision and what your priorities are.

@Sassafrass_84 Or make children's health a priority. The #1 disease killer of kids in #ChildhoodCancer and most have no idea about it, or that we don't appropriate fund support for treatment nor research for better treatments that don't injure them for a lifetime.

We have all the money in the world to fund nato, foreign wars, "foreign aid," etc. But we somehow don't have enough money to fund schools with security or nutritional food. Our children deserve this. Our priorities are ass backward.

@johnnymerg @stevemagness I'd introduce a third group, those who simply allow their kids to play with other good athletes. Many of us realize there is no scholarship at the end. And don't live & breathe it ourselves. But hearts explode with love when your son is with his buddies doing what he loves.

I remember two types of parents who have their kids on travel leagues. The first was the parents who make this their entire social existence, taking about team performance, complaining about being tired from driving, bragging they needed a truck or SUV to haul all the equipment, and never shutting up about it in general. The second group I've met were the parents farming a college scholarship for their child, and their child has an MCL or ACL repair before graduating high school. I'm sure there's more than that, but those are the two types I remember running into.

Can someone explain why some 10 year old needs to travel hundreds of miles for competition that they almost certainly could have found locally? Travel leagues for youth sports should be banned.

@miles_commodore Schedule a session with your bank to teach this if you don't want to yourself. School isn't for everything - everyone is already overwhelmed there. The key to improving life skills for today's teens is not to cram more content in school. Parents, you can teach your children too.

Every public high school in America should be teaching how credit cards work, how to get a mortgage, and what mutual funds are and how they function. 16th century English literature is great, but how about equipping our children with what they need in the REAL world.

@CDawnPickering @AlanRMacLeod I’ve worked in nonprofit leadership most of my professional life in 3 separate communities & advocated in the childhood cancer community for 27 yrs. Families ensure progress, even if it’s slow. The #1 disease killer of our children SHOULD be a national priority - but it’s not.
