A crash on Whitemud Drive in south Edmonton Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a woman who had exited her vehicle on the roadside. The incident took place around 1:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near the 111 Street overpass. Police say a white minivan had pulled over on the shoulder, and the driver stepped out to check something when she was struck by a semi-truck travelling east. It’s still unclear what she was inspecting on the vehicle. Emergency crews responded, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The rear of the minivan was also hit in the crash, and the semi came to a stop on the grassy embankment beside the overpass. A young child was inside the van at the time of the collision. Although not physically hurt, the child was taken to the Stollery Children’s Hospital for evaluation. The crash prompted a full closure of Whitemud Drive eastbound between 119 Street and 111 Street, leading to major traffic congestion that extended back to 156 Street as police investigated.

I’m just gonna rant for a second because eating healthy with a picky kid in the house is so hard. I don’t have the time or energy to try and come up with separate options every mealtime because he won’t eat what I’m eating. Help. 😂 What are yall feeding these children?!

@treelynne17 @rachallison1 I totally agree. I learned when my kids were little is that their pickiness will eventually get better, and kids will get the nutrition they need despite their pickiness. The fact that you are very conscious of it is important - you got this! He will survive! lol

@rachallison1 I had some picky kids when they were younger. Some battles just aren't worth it. I would make sure there was always something they would eat. Mac and cheese or chicken nuggets. Something they liked.

@rachallison1 @rhymes_melody What if you make enough food at one of his favourite meals so that he can have leftovers of that when you eat your next, more adventurous meal for your taste palette?

@rhymes_melody I’m doing weight watchers so it’s recipes that work for that. Lots of salmon and chicken, but I try and experiment bc I hate eating the same stuff every day. I think that’s where I lose him 😂

Out of curiosity: For those who play WORDLE, what is your starting word? My current word is "CLEAR" but thinking of changing.

@GenTXer2 My starting word is stale. Then proud if nothing comes from stale. That covers almost all vowels and main consonants. If I get an ‘a’ from stale I will try Roman.

@ericsalinas @ronsterd89 Also it is expensive to add extra people to a wedding for catering - and kids probably won’t eat a full serving, but are charged as a full serving. Unless you can get a caterer who distinguishes between kids meals and adult meals.

Yes, it’s rude. It’s not about “hating kids”, there are practical reasons: - The catering likely doesn’t include kid-friendly meals - Guests are expected to get really drunk, which may not be appropriate around kids - Kids could unintentionally disrupt hired performers - The event is likely to go late, and kids would struggle to stay awake - Most importantly, the couple wants to celebrate WITH YOU, not have you juggling parenting during their big day

Is it rude to bring kids to a “no kid” wedding if you couldn’t find a babysitter?

My kids think it’s gross that hubby & I used to put ice cream in Coca Cola as kids. Guessing it was an 80s/90s thing? Or, was it a Scottish thing? I think it was called a float.

@humanbeingawk The other thing that is happening is that some items are put behind the customer service desk or behind the pharmacy too. Which is also a hassle to wait in line, either before or after I’ve paid for my groceries already (and usually I forget those items with the extra steps!)
