I grew up going to Saratoga Race Course many times a week and picnicking at the top of the stretch. This was the tradition for many families. Today it has been replaced with corporate boxes and not accessible. NYRA greed has destroyed the Spa.The mystique is no longer.NYRA GREED.

@Tinky47flat I am stating the obvious that NYRA executives have made bad decisions when implementing change to the spa. The 1863 club,Swamp stand on top of the historical paddock trail which has no bathrooms. I could keep going. The result is new interest in the game has diminished. GREED!

I tend to agree, but would argue that such decisions/trends have afflicted most major racetracks in the U.S., and that they reflect the results of terribly short-sighted policies over the past several decades. Mirroring broader American society, there has been a tremendous concentration of wealth and power into fewer and fewer hands, and the "middle-class", both in broader society and the racing game, has been eviscerated as a result.

It’s not the horses, it’s the track supers who think they need to justify their salaries by scraping and watering these tracks relentlessly and turning them into paced highways

Of all of the things that is troublesome with horse racing, the consistent wire to wire winners, at a rate double or triple what it was like twenty, thirty years ago, is the worst. The absolute worst.

Just inexcusable what happened @Saratoga1863. I want safety as much as anyone, as I had partial ownership of a horse in the race. But the jocks knew about this race since Wednesday. Hard to blame NYRA administration on this one IMO. And what about the trainers/owners who didn’t want to run that far this early in the season?Although I don’t know why they still couldn’t have the Pick 6. Plenty of time was given for bettors to change their mind. Not a good look. Live and learn.
