The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media. I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.

Yes, it’s terrible. However, you have made absolutely zero comments on illegal aliens in this country destroying our country, bankrupting it, and destroying the individual sovereignty of us as U.S. citizens. The Catholic Church in the U.S. is primarily responsible for bringing in these people through social services organizations. Signing each one, and their children, up for for $1,000’s if not 10,000’s of dollars PER MONTH in subsidies. Oh yeah, and they keep having babies that add more. All the while our former military, aged, as well as the modern family cannot afford to live here or raise a family. Let alone retire. You destroyed the family unit by starting this bullshit guilt trip by bringing these people in in the late 80’s and early 90’s. There will be nothing left to save in the world if the U.S. family gets destroyed from within. I don’t understand why none of you have the balls to call this shit out. If that dude was here, shit would hit the fan with you all. Be a man. Stand up for the truth and preach with fearlessness like Jesus did. Tell the truth. Quit kowtowing to people who will praise you. It is highly dangerous to be a Christian today in North Korea.  In May of 2023, an entire family, including a two-year-old child, was condemned to life imprisonment for the crime of possessing a Bible.  That same month, a man already incarcerated in a detention camp was beaten nearly to death for the crime of quietly praying.  Please pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in North Korea, and pray that the light of religious liberty may reach even the darkest corners of our world.

Yesterday, House leadership told the conference that votes were canceled. While we were traveling, they initiated the process to pass votes under suspension, meaning there was not a recorded vote for their Senate bill on artwork. They knew that the Senate bill could not pass under a rule because of what the Senate has failed to do regarding the state of the SAVE America Act. So they did something called a voice vote. Just so you understand the BS that we have to deal with up here.

It was with real sadness that I learned that the monks of the Abbey of La Trappe in Normandy are considering closing down their operation. As the name suggests, this monastery is the mother house of the Trappist Order, a reform of the Cistercian movement and a particularly intense form of Benedictine life, famous for its austerity and silence. I came to know of La Trappe through Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk of the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky, whom I read with great passion when I was a young man. La Trappe shaped Merton, who in turn opened so much of the spiritual life to me. Founded over nine hundred years ago, La Trappe has survived the Black Death, the Hundred Years' War, the Protestant Reformation, the French Revolution, and the world wars of the twentieth century. That this venerable monastery cannot find enough vocations to keep it alive is, in my judgment, a sign of the spiritual disaster that has befallen Europe in the last hundred years: an ideological secularism that is rotting the soul of the West. Let's redouble our prayers that the monks of La Trappe might find a way to preserve their great Abbey. It is needed especially now.

He was my Professor in Seminary for two years. Spent hours in his study smoking pipes and discussing philosophy and God. This man is God’s chosen instrument. His intellectual and spiritual humility are just unreal. He works so hard to always be at God’s disposal so He can be glorified. Pray for him. He absolutely needs it in order to do what he does.
