I’ve been wondering why the Surgeon General released his advisory about alcohol & cancer when NASEM report released in mid December says something very different about alcohol & health. And why he doesn’t reference it in his advisory. Just… wondering.

Sadly @CBCNews does a headline article about the Surgeon General’s statement and does not offer balance. Just the usual immoderate dry voices. Says the booze industry wouldn’t comment. As if only the booze industry would disagree with the neo-temperance stance. *sigh*

Not surprisingly the US Surgeon General has drunk the neo temperance kool aid. He seems confused by the term "all-cause mortality" & fixated on cancer even though those for which alcohol may increase the risk are not the most lethal compared to heart disease. Science is hard.
