Not a lot of people know this but most wizened journos do: Margaret Thatcher’s 1960 Private Members Bill gave the press the right to report on council meetings.
In Nottinghamshire, Reform’s curbs on the freedom of the press lay bare the simple fact that they don’t like proper journalistic scrutiny.

Nottinghamshire County Council's Reform leadership has stopped us reporting from the council chamber without any explanation why. Our reporter was told to report on a key meeting from an upstairs room, even though there were at least five empty seats. We've challenged it.

After a decade in the woke wilderness, the @LibDems are finally getting back on track. Even after suspended internal elections last autumn, debates at spring conferenece this weekend showed that the TRAs still have no effective counterpoint to the reality and relevance of sex.

Disappointed for my @LibDems friends in Liverpool that Dave Thomas lost to the Greens based on post Denton & Reddish surge (to be short lived). But look at the Tory vote, just 8! This is in a constituency deemed Tory until 1983 (I was the Liberal agent there) & Labour collapse!

Thank you @LibDems Lord Strasburger for speaking up for the importance accurate sex data in policing. "Hardly any perpetrators of sexual violence are women, so it takes only a small number of male offenders being recorded as women to make it look—wrongly—as if women are suddenly committing many more violent and sexual offences."

Just won my first victory in the House of Lords. An amendment I tabled to the Crime and Policing Bill that will permanently do away with non-crime hate incidents -- co-sponsored by Lords Hogan-Howe and Strasberger -- won by 227 votes to 221. 👊

@JonIrwinLD They only want debate when it's on their terms. When it's laws and amendments that put gender identity above sex and promote the medicalisation of children. What they don't want to hear from is women, men and LGB activists defending their sex-based rights or child safeguarding.
