So here goes: LAST NIGHT for one night only Motherwell Vs Heart of Midlothian served up heavenly football heaven! I was there. I saw it. (St.Mirren v Kilmarnock earlier in the day was not a slight on this). HERE on the former Steelworks, and before that on what were green rolling agricultural fields minding their own business with however a mother well on the Ladywell Road back in the hamlet, I saw a match that made me smile non-stop for 2 hours. The game had loads of added time bits. Yet the atmosphere in the streets before and after extended the match as well. I could have wanted this forever. Here surrounding it, this heaven, so much warm claret and amber COLOUR shared by the two clubs. Hearts fans ALL turned up with their scarves. In the run up to kick-off one could see why: every Hearts fan swinging it above their head, what a sight. MOTHERWELL had their own deck of colours, cards, ribbons, silky banners unfurled everywhere else where Hearts were not. Kids everywhere. Bobble hats. Children gonna be out til well after bedtime. BIGGEST crowd here for 20 years. The auld concrete like a palace or cathedral. And there was the match itself, a giddying unbolted wild rocking-horse of a game, thrills and fouls and spills and headers and shots. VAR trying to make sense of it. In the end the match was Drawn - we all won!! @BBCSportScot He has beaten Mcinness 0 times out of 4. His team tonight had one shot in target in 100+ minutes. It was after 33 seconds. It’s probably a penalty. Overall JBA has done a good job. Not any more than that. Praise has been wildly over the top. Mwell finished 3rd not long ago.

@JamboRyan1874 It's a 50/50 for control of the ball, I don't know of any other 50/50 where it's ok to hit another player in the back of the knee and be awarded a free kick yourself for it. It would be a trip if the Motherwell player has control of the ball...he doesn't, neither of them do

I cannot be the only person that looks at this and sees a Motherwell player attempting to play the ball and a Rangers player taking him down without even attempting to play the ball? If that at the other end of the pitch it’s a penalty to Motherwell… what am I missing here

@Mic2904 @derekwatson89 @grok Within Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct, it states that an indirect free kick is awarded if a player plays in a dangerous manner. It then defines in detail what playing in a dangerous manner is.

I don't really know what people are arguing about. It's a penalty. If the Hearts player was standing up, it came off his leg, and Welsh kicked his leg then it's a stonewaller. It's a foul irrespective of what part of the body Welsh kicks.

UNBELIEVABLE! Worst yet. Hearts penalty v Motherwell - Kabore fell & headered ball from ground (foul dangerous play, Leicester v Newcastle see below). Stephen Welsh tipped him minimal contact. VAR Stevie McLean- 'clear & obvious error' & penalty to Hearts, shocking. Well robbed!

Think you can definitely understand how the on field officials might have missed this in real time, but for VAR to miss it is (again) inexusable. It's clearly a penalty.
