Politics are dominating discussions these days, but we shouldn't lose sight of key policy issues. One of them: how to integrate CDR into EU climate policy. In this @Euractiv piece, @markprstn and I argue for a broader debate - beyond an ETS integration. euractiv.com/section/eet/op…

So, as I read it, almost everything is in, with a huge caveat. Any technology must demonstrate they are consistent w/ geologic storage or equivalent. Meaning permanence of hundreds to thousands of years. Smart move by DOE, focusing on standards, not tech exclusionary.

Absolute privilege to share a panel with @hollyjeanbuck @Oliver_Geden @stv_smth & Ottmar Edenhofer, all giants in carbon dioxide removal and climate more generally. Thanks to @JPIClimate for organising today’s workshop and showcasing the state of ongoing CDR research in Europe.

@steviedubyu @adidas Definitely both, I'd say. Captured carbon materials could be really important, but this is obviously a small project (which in fairness they do acknowledge).

In a few days MEPs face a historic choice. Here’s why I’m joining the many voices calling on European lawmakers to pass the #NatureRestorationLaw and work together for a just transition with farmers, fishers and foresters at the heart of these reforms euractiv.com/section/energy…

Excited to finally share the #CCSLadder– joint @E3G @Bellona_DE work, with @GeorgKobiela and others Drawing on colleagues' long-standing thinking, it aims to inform how public policy (⏲️💰🏗️) can prioritise what we call ‘high climate-value’ CCS applications. A thread: 1/11

🥁🪈🪇 @FelixSchenuit brilliantly defended his PhD last Tuesday at @unihh 🎉 He examies the knowledge politics of the #IPCC & the role of the 1.5°C special report in the rise of carbon removal #CDR debates. Well done!! 🦸 (Also, he is *my* first PhD student and I'm proud as hell)
