Its definitley way better paced, theres one or two bits where I had to reread or where the flow was a little confusing but otherwise this is really good, I can narrow down the parts I mean in a bit, Im having a hard time thinking cause of my hip and a very early start lol

There are only so many hours in a day, and writing always cuts into my reading time. I often wonder, how do they do it, when I see how many books others manage to read. Call it reading shame or reading envy, but am I the only one afflicted?

@theopenbook2 @SketchesbyBoze Is it so difficult for someone to post ‘I am currently reading…’? He posted about a novel about Anglo-Saxon times that quoted Margaret Atwood. Lots of replies about how terrible, etc but no one thought to ask the title. Is it a bad thing to be skeptical?

@JohnBaldLangLit @LBC @vicgoddard Well I’ve taught GCSE English for 30 years, many different boards and I’ve never seen a poem in the Language GCSE. Look at the syllabus and then quote me some evidence. The functional element is 50% of the writing tasks. Check your evidence. I am also a GCSE English examiner.

@Jacmor63 @HYuretich It's a legit method. Muscle memory meets craft. The real question is, when do you stop absorbing and start writing your own? That's where a beta reader comes in.

@HYuretich How awful! Although, there are those who believe you can learn good writing by typing out a classic (novel) - that you absorb the rhythm of the text and learn how story works. I had to look it up to see if I was imagining it. Hunter S.Thomson and Joan Didion did this!

@sccarlson @BretDevereaux Funny thing is I am writing a paper now on early church history and while I attempt to ingest and do credit to the work of experts while translating it to my own tradition's theory and methods, I am quite cognizant of my limitations with the material and literature.

This seems worth reiterating in the endless Classics debates here: there is nothing stopping the folks who complain about academic classics from writing their own articles and submitting them for review at major journals.
Submissions are open, peer review is double-blind.
