I was today years old when I learned there are people who actually stand facing the shower.Never once in my life had it occurred to me that apparently it's not normal to stand with your back facing the shower? That's how I've done it my whole life.

The banks are intentionally reducing teller and customer services to the general public and no government oversight body is doing a thing about it.
In branch services take HOURS.
ATM can't take deposits.
It's like u r being punished for using the banking system in person.

To her credit, Fayval Williams acknowledged that the outcome was not what policymakers expected. But in truth, economists would say this was always a likely result. Whenever you design a tax rule with a clear cut-off, people will naturally organise their behaviour around it. If the objective is to strengthen government revenue while keeping things fair, there may be better options: •Keep the threshold simple and modest so there’s less room for manipulation. •Apply a small flat processing fee on all imported packages, so at least some revenue is collected across the board. •Focus on policies that strengthen local production and businesses, making it easier for Jamaicans to produce and sell competitively. Good policy works when it recognises one basic truth: people respond to incentives. Ignore that, and the revenue you expect often disappears.

There’s been a lot of talk about the de minimis threshold in the budget, the rule that allows packages valued under US$100 to enter Jamaica duty-free. Finance Minister Fayval Williams acknowledged that the move didn’t quite play out the way the government expected in her supplementary budget presentation today.
On the surface, raising the threshold sounds consumer-friendly. People ordering small items online avoid duties, packages move faster, and shopping becomes easier. But if the broader goal was to increase government revenue, the policy had a few predictable problems from the start.
