This decision seemed inevitable from what has been in the press, but to pull the trigger after taking declarations for Friday's meet at 10am is a real slap in the face for Owners/Trainers & Jocs some of these races have been targeted for months. Tone deaf from @BHAHorseracing
British Horseracing Authority@BHAHorseracing

The BHA has confirmed that a racecourse licence will not be granted to Golden Mile Racing Limited, the new company formed to operate Chelmsford City Racecourse, following the previous licence holder Great Leighs Estates Limited being placed in administration. 🔗 Full details: britishhorseracing.com/press_releases…

We are disappointed to share the news that our final three racedays of the 2025-26 season have been cancelled to allow for an upgrade of the drainage systems on the home straight. More information here: thejockeyclub.co.uk/cheltenham/med…

In the later years of his life, Freddie Mercury’s most enduring and devoted relationship was with Jim Hutton, an Irish hairdresser who became a central figure in Freddie’s private world. They met in 1985, and what began as a casual friendship soon developed into a deep, committed partnership. Unlike many of Freddie’s earlier relationships, his bond with Jim was marked by calm stability, companionship, and mutual care rather than the whirlwind of fame and public attention. By the late 1980s, Jim had become Freddie’s full-time partner. He provided not only emotional support but also practical care, especially as Freddie’s health began to decline. Their life together was largely private, shielded from the intense media scrutiny that surrounded Queen, allowing Freddie to experience intimacy and trust without the complications of public exposure. Jim later described their relationship as one of genuine partnership, emphasizing that their love was built on mutual respect and daily acts of care. During the final years of Freddie’s life, Jim Hutton was by his side almost constantly. He accompanied Freddie to medical appointments and supported him during periods of increasing frailty. Their relationship demonstrated a rare constancy, showing that Freddie’s personal life was capable of deep, lasting devotion, even amidst the chaos of rock stardom. When Freddie Mercury passed away in November 1991, Jim remained one of the few people entrusted with his private affairs and memories. Their relationship, though intensely private, has been widely documented in biographies and interviews, offering a heartfelt glimpse into the personal life of one of rock’s greatest icons. It stands as a testament to love grounded in loyalty and care rather than public spectacle. Today, Jim Hutton passed away in 2010, but their story continues to resonate with fans and biographers alike. Freddie’s legacy, while primarily celebrated for his artistry, is inseparable from the love and companionship he shared with Jim—proving that even in the spotlight of fame, genuine personal connection can endure and define a life. #FreddieMercury #Queen

@JimGoldieRacing @yorkracecourse I have done every racecourse in Britain and when I was doing the Scottish tour I started off at Hamilton and Jordan Electrics won, I back your horses regularly but the clue was everywhere in Hamilton was the sponsorship of the same name including on what looked like a water tank

SAFC Milk Cup Heroes reunite for 40th Anniversary Celebration Black Cats fans are in for a nostalgic treat as Sunderland celebrates the 40th anniversary of their remarkable run to the Milk Cup final in 1985. The event, hosted by former BBC Look North presenter Jeff Brown, will take place upstairs at The Peacock pub in Sunderland city centre on Monday, March 17, kicking off at 7:30pm. Tickets are priced at £10, with all proceeds going to the Foundation of Light, Sunderland AFC’s official charity. The evening will feature conversations with several stars of the 1985 Wembley campaign, including striker David Hodgson, goalkeeper Chris Turner, and centre-back Gary Bennett. In the first half of the night, these former players will relive the thrilling journey to the final, which saw Sunderland knock out top-tier teams like Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, Watford, and Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest. A memorable and intense semi-final victory over Chelsea, which unfolded amid violent crowd scenes at Stamford Bridge, will also be a key highlight. The second half of the event will shift focus to the final itself, where Sunderland faced Norwich City. A special feature will be a conversation with teenage defender David Corner, who reflects on the moment Norwich’s winning goal changed his life forever. This is an unmissable opportunity for fans to revisit a pivotal moment in Sunderland’s football history and hear first-hand accounts from the players who lived it. Secure your tickets now and join the celebration of Sunderland’s underdog spirit and enduring legacy. Book your place now, with money raised from all ticket sales supporting the Foundation of Light: eventbrite.co.uk/e/milk-cup-tal…

@Sandford_Police Is not defacing a car with a large knife a crime surely this country needs to take a look at what is happening around them and not through Rose coloured glasses.

Nicholas Smith, 26 and Andrew Jones, 36 have been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm. The victims Haroon Khan, 22, and Mohammed Khan, 19 didn’t sustain any lasting injuries from the bar stool. We are investigating whether to treat this as a hate crime.

Leading the boys out in a Wear-Tyne Derby was a dream come true, one that the 4-year-old me who started the game could never have imagined possible. Now that the emotions of Saturday’s result have settled, I wanted to express my gratitude. The pride I have for the team, the club, and the city of Sunderland is immense, especially for everyone who’s supported me since I moved here. Despite the painful result, the experience will stay with me forever. Experiencing one of the greatest atmospheres and games in world football is what we players strive for in our careers. Encountering this level of atmosphere and being part of the magnitude of this game was a glimpse of what we want weekly. We aim to take this club back where it belongs, making it our daily mission for the fans and the city. Although we didn’t get the desired result, it fuels our daily motivation to bridge the gap until this club matches the fans’ passion and history once again. Thank you for your incredible support. We have 20 big games ahead of us. ❤️🤍
