I’ve watched @andy_murray win on grainy laptop screens, in ecstatic Wimbledon pubs and, very fortunately, in person. I’ve cheered, screamed, cried. I’ve grown up watching him grow up. He has made the last 15 years of tennis monumentally better. He is the greatest. 🏆🏆🏆🥇🥇🇬🇧1️⃣

@carole_bouchard Tried so many times to buy #RolandGarros tickets in the sale and resale, and they were apparently sold out every time. So where were all the ticket holders? All in the bar on the corporate sponsors’ dime? The ticketing system is a joke.

Mauresmo just announced that matches will start at 10am on ALL courts tomorrow. So one more match on Chatrier. Security to be tightened, umpires have been asked to be more struck for disruptive actions during points. Mauresmo also said she’s sick of seeing the Chatrier empty.

I was lucky to be in Paris the past few days. Tried getting #RolandGarros tickets when they went on sale and every day in the resale up to and during my trip. Didn’t get any. Seeing so many empty seats on Chatrier is maddening. Real tennis fans are losing out to corporate goons.

@SkyHelpTeam The website said we should book an engineer, but the earliest slot is next week, which is a very long wait when we work from home. Neighbours have also complained of problems - how can we tell if there’s a wider issue in the street/area?

@SkyHelpTeam Yes, broadband stopped working around 9am this morning. Helpline said it was a problem in the area - is that still the case? Do you know when it should be fixed?

On segregation, the below isn’t wrong, but here’s some perspective.
Blackburn is the furthest outlier on this metric in the UK, whereas several US cities are more extreme.
NYC is about the same as Blackburn, while London is more genuinely diverse/mixed than ~any major US city.

The levels of racial segregation seen in many English towns and cities - as per the 2021 Census - are extraordinary, worrying and have gone almost entirely unremarked Meanwhile we Brits love to think of ourselves as far superior to the Americans and French on this issue

@TennisConnected He has reached three of the last six Grand Slam finals. The only man to reach more is Djokovic. You might think he is overrated but he is not over-ranked.

Still think Casper Ruud is super overrated. He’s in this soft patch of men’s tennis where he can basically tank the grass season and finish Top 5 in the world. Again, nothing against him. Good guy, nice game but he’s definitely benefitting from a weak top 10 overall.

Understatement: the @wimbledon organizers are not eager for the optics of Princess of Wales presenting the trophy to a player from Belarus. (Nor of a Ukrainian and Belarusian playing a final and declining to pose together before the prematch coin toss, etc.) #Wimbledon

@caitlin_thomps The last couple of Wimbledons since the pandemic have felt lacklustre somehow. This year’s feels like it’s properly back.
