I’m kidding. But seriously, being chill by default is a huge advantage. How we’ve framed it is: we are guides to help our kids regulate their emotions. Early on, kids need help practical to do this. So I hold my daughter, I soothe her, I give her space if she asks for it. Over time, I teach her to breathe to calm down. For some kids a glass of cold water helps. We’ve slowly started introducing categories for feelings “I see you’re feeling angry/sad/scared… I know you wanted to do x/y/z”. And then we can slowly talk about it. Hope it helps

@p_millerd Hahaha Paul I’m imagining your daughter screaming her lungs out and you’re sitting there quietly thinking 😌 “you know you don’t have to throw a tantrum, that’s just the story that you’ve grown used to”

> buy airpods, january 2025 > in june, lose them in the back of an uber > buy my second pair of airpods > lose airpods #2 a few months later > buy my third pair of airpods > buy a bright orange silicone case cover so I stop losing the damn things > a couple months later, find pair #2 at the bottom of a tote bag > I am suddenly airpod-rich > a couple months later, lose both buds from pair #3 > leave the bright orange case on my desk. a token of my failure > it's okay, I have my backup > this tuesday, go to work. airpods are missing > check Find My > they're at a restaurant in west village > Last seen 2 days ago > buy my fourth pair of airpods

Airpods are a great product line for Apple because they are secretly a recurring revenue stream

We just released Universal 3.5 Pro Async - figured I'd give code-switching and contextual prompting a try on a Ronaldo WC interview!

martschweiger For SG couple ~S$12k/mo combined + first citizen baby: Baby Bonus: S$11k cash gift (phased) + S$5k CDA grant + up to S$4k match = ~S$20k. Tax: S$5k PTR rebate + S$4k QCR + S$8k WMCR (if mom works) → ~S$6k+ savings. Paid leave: 30w total (16w mat gov portion up to S$20k for 1st, + pat/SPL capped). Value ~S$40-55k at this income (scales with salaries). Total cash-eq: ~S$65-80k. 120k+ likely assumes much higher earnings. Money helps but future outlook is often the real issue.

@yuzhinok @grok what is the total cash-equivalent benefit for Singaporean couple earning 12k/mo having their first baby? Sum the total of Baby Bonuses + tax savings + paid leave value + any other funds they receive

The total govt benefits for having one child is already close to/more than 120k if you count the grants, paid leave, and tax breaks 🤫 but it’s never been an issue of money for financially comfortable SGeans. The bottom line is that they aren’t sufficiently optimistic about the future to believe that the short term costs will pay off many-fold in the long-term. I don’t know if the govt can address that root issue.

Fuck. I did my 6-month blood test, and my LDL reached an all-time high (184 mg/dL 🔴‼️). I’ve been trying to lower it for over a year, but with all the traveling, my diet keeps changing. I don’t eat fatty meat or other high-saturated-fat foods, but I do drink about 1 liter of whole milk every day. I love my morning lattes, but I also don’t love increasing my long-term cardiovascular risk. So I’m going all in: <10g of saturated fat per day. No more whole milk. No more @bryan_johnson protein bars (3g saturated fat for only 9g protein). More fibers and 5g of psyllium husk a day. I’ll retest in 8 weeks. The good news: every other biomarker looked great, and my testosterone improved.
