@SkProMasker @AdithyaR_YXE @OfficialRPL I think anyone who is a regular user of Central is unsurprised by this action. I agree that RPL could and should be much better communicators, recognizing that library staff deserve to be safe should be something community members recognize for themselves.

@AdithyaR_YXE @SkProMasker @OfficialRPL How is asking people at one of nine locations to briefly reveal their face is discriminatory? No services are being denied. Staff still bring Holds to the door for library customers at all branches if they don’t want to enter.

@AdithyaR_YXE @SkProMasker @OfficialRPL Not being able to identify people is a safety risk. Hundreds of people use Central Branch daily. Many of them have behaved violently in the past—staff are regularly physically and verbally abused at Central. Staff are morally and legally entitled to a safe workplace.

@SkProMasker @OfficialRPL There are nine libraries in Regina—only one is requiring that masks be briefly removed for identification purposes. Two weeks ago there was a machete attack at Central—a staff person was less than a metre away. Staff safety is a reasonable and necessary priority for the library.

@SkProMasker @OfficialRPL As a former library employee it is increasing difficult and stressful and frightening dealing with customers in angry threatening situations when they can not be identified because they are wearing a mask.

With the new Netflix changes they will be automatically signing you out every month. That’s going to be fun, seeing how a lot of smart TVs etc don’t remember your password.
