I'm tired of talking about “racism in Ukraine”. Really. People from a country where racial segregation was practiced in the system until 1964 have trauma, I understand. However racial segregation was never practiced in Ukraine. In my country, white people never was privileged, because they never colonized, or oppressed. This is an important factor. A second important factor that Russian imperia colonized Ukraine and Ukrainian been like slaves (”krypaky”) for hundreds of years. In modern Ukraine police brutality against a particular group never existed. Jews, Crimean Tatars, and Armenians have been living in Ukraine for hundreds of years. Immigrants from African, Asian, and Middle Eastern countries coming to study and stay. So, before analyze racism we have to analyze the history, context or just visit the country. I visited the U.S. and can compare. (returned to Ukraine) Individual chauvinism can be and I'm pretty sure we handle it and the next generation’s society here will be more equal and inclusive. 💙
