Search is full of ads and wrong answers. Every other email is an ad. Prime Video charges you and shows ads. Paramount? Ads. Peacock? YouTube? Hulu? Ads followed by more ads. Netflix full of ads. Meta and X, every other thing is an ad. Pinterest is nothing but ads. AI is in everything. AI finishes sentences incorrectly and won’t stop. AI reads your email and search history to target you with more ads. Every time you open an app or visit a site there’s an update making it worse. In a hurry? First, click here to agree to terms you don’t have time to read and must accept. You need an account to do that. Change your temporary password. Enter your 2FA code. Check your email and enter that code. Now use a passkey. Your password is too simple to remember. Change it. No, not like that. Now log on. Enter your 2FA code. Check your email for a code… Welcome back! We’ve updated our terms of service and privacy policy (you have none). Subscribe to the site. Subscribe to Netflix. Subscribe to toilet paper. Subscribe to these groceries. Pay a membership fee for the right to subscribe then tip your driver who delivers the subscriptions your membership lets you subscribe to. Time to work? We’ve got to update your laptop and will slow down everything you do until you agree to update. But first, click here to agree. Update installed — your laptop’s broken now. It doesn’t matter, since your boss just replaced you with AI. Go to your phone to complain on social media. Wait, your phone needs an update so we can add more AI. Click here. Oh sorry, your phone can’t handle this update. Now it’s useless. Go get the newest phone. Here’s a text from a friend, an email, a voice mail they left three days ago but you didn’t see until now because of sync problems with the cloud. It’s their GoFundMe. Their MLM. Their Patreon. Never mind, you didn’t respond to their text within 9 minutes and now you’re no longer friends. They blocked you. Make new friends. Download this app to find people in your area. In your neighborhood. On your street. Two doors down from you. Do you know this person yet, we think you’d get along. You need an account to use this app. That username is taken. Enter a password. Not that one, you used it on another site. You need to be connected to WiFi to download the app. Allow the app to connect to other devices on your network. Allow the app to access your contacts, know your precise location, store your credit card details. Oops, sorry, we got hacked now all that info is available on the web. There’s a class action suit. You can join. It’ll take a decade to get your $3.73 share of the ten billion settlement. We’ll send it via PayPal or deposit it to your bank, just tell us those details. Oh no, another hack. That info is circulating now, too. Here’s a spam call, a spam email, a spam text. Why are you angry? Why are you talking about getting rid of your phone? Why don’t you like AI, it lets us make all of this easier? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? This is progress. You’ll be left behind. Do you want to be left behind? Do you???

The reason we're not into forgiving the people abandoning MAGA now is that you're not doing it because of the rampant racism, sexism, utter stupidity or any number of other unconscionable things, but because it's finally negatively affecting you personally. You learned nothing.

it’s crazy that 95% of people just want a nice normal life on our beautiful, already abundant planet where they can have their basic needs met and cute experiences with their loved ones and then we have these 5% of evil, narcissistic goons at the top fucking it up for all of us

Bro, they only stole all of our personal data, destroyed decades of global soft power and sentenced a million+ poor, vulnerable people to death. Chill out . It was only for a few months, bro. It's not that deep...
Sólionath@Anarseldain

DOGE was a thing for like 6 months, and already the people involved are being dragged into tribunals – even while the GOP holds all branches of government. Dems will start killing people by firing squad in 2029 if our failure of a GOP doesn’t get serious.

When are tech folk going to get that people like wasting time, it's life. They don't optimize for efficiency, they try to get by, they watch dumb stuff, they enjoy shopping. Inefficiency is another work for living and life. Your m mean and median job isn't a software engineer in Menlo Park, it's Ashley in accounts in a not for profit in Columbus, it's Jesse , the office manager for a tool rental business in Tallahassee, they are more likely to use a Fax machine than Slack. They quite like meetings because they like chatting, they'll use AI to make a better invite to their baby shower, not agentify their job. These people, nor their bosses boss, aren't in a rush to build software as a side hustle, they are keen to use AI to check if their vet is overcharging them. They'd like AI to check spelling on the email to the school governor. They don't want agentic commerce, they want AI to be in the background and make living a little less stressful

Kristol is right and the documented record is now worse than the original sets described. Six US reservists killed in Kuwait. Gen. Caine opened with grief. Hegseth responded by attacking the press for reporting the deaths. Then he called Iran toast, promised death and destruction from the podium, locked traditional reporters out of the briefing room, and credentialed outlets whose job is applause rather than accountability. Real leadership at the Department of Defense requires sobriety. The understanding that every order carries the weight of American lives. What the Pentagon briefings this week revealed is a Secretary who treats lethal force as personal branding and treats the human cost of war as a public relations problem. America's military and those six families in mourning deserved something steadier than that.
Bill Kristol@BillKristol

“I wish I could say how cavalier, obtuse and hopeless Secretary Hegseth is at leading the Pentagon. I can’t even muster the words to describe his self-adulation, matched only in scope by his apparent moral depravity.” theguardian.com/us-news/2026/m…

Two possible things going on here: 1) Trump, the man-child, was manipulated into this war by people around him with their own political (Rubio), financial (Witkoff/Kushner), religious (Hegseth) agendas. 2) Trump is trying to divert the blame for this unpopular war onto others.

BREAKING: AI juggernaut Anthropic hits Trump with a MASSIVE lawsuit after his corrupt Pentagon labeled them a "supply chain risk" because they refused to support mass surveillance and autonomous AI weapons. They're trying to prevent a Terminator-esque future and Trump is furious... “The Constitution does not allow the government to wield its enormous power to punish a company for its protected speech. No federal statue authorizes the actions taken here," the lawsuit, filed in federal court in California, reads. The legal assault comes after Trump ordered all federal agencies to stop using Anthropic's products. The company alleges that the order is "unprecedented and unlawful" and is demanding that it be reversed because the “consequences of this case are enormous.” Traditionally, the "supply chain risk" designation is reserved for foreign adversaries. Trump is abusing his powers to punish the company for refusing to bend to his will. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei previously stated that the company could not “in good conscience” agree to his demands. Every American should be siding with Anthropic on this case, regardless of what one thinks of the company more broadly. There is absolutely no benign reason for the Defense Department to give AI independent authority to kill people and mass AI surveillance is an unthinkable violation of our Constitutional rights. Anthropic described their lawsuit as a "last resort" but stated that they had to take action after the Trump administration "retaliated" against them for “adhering to its protected viewpoint on a subject of great public significance — AI safety and the limitations of its own AI models.” Please ❤️ and share if you support the lawsuit!

Oliver called it exactly what it is. A man-made disaster. Engineered. Celebrated. USAID was the mechanism by which America turned pennies on the dollar into saved lives and stable regions. Musk's efficiency crew looked at that ledger and decided the world could do without it. Lives lost. Influence eroded. American leadership quietly diminished while the White House took a victory lap. This is not America First. This is America shrinking on purpose. The republic we inherited was never meant to be small or spiteful. It was built to prove that decency scales. Right now that test is failing... and the world is watching every minute of it.

Had Kamala won: 1) We wouldn't have levied tariffs on other countries in some ridiculous nonsensical way, effectively taxing American importers, producers and consumers. 2) We would be treating our allies with the respect they deserve, NOT threatening to make Canada our 51st state, invading Greenland under false pretenses, and disrespecting the sacrifices of fallen allied warriors who fought as brothers alongside our own warriors. 3) The future of NATO would be secure for now, especially important during this time of rising aggression from the Russian Federation who looks westward and threatens Europe. 4) The United States would be on the right side of history in the Russia/Ukraine conflict and Kamala had hinted she'd probably be less restrained than Biden in supplying Ukraine with what they need to win. No red carpet for the butcher Putin on American soil and no disrespecting and attempting to humiliate Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the White House. 5) We would not have started a half-cocked ill-conceived war with Iran after being manipulated by Bibi Netanyahu to do so, a potential quagmire from which we may never extract ourselves. 6) We would have a president who could make a professional appearance and wouldn't embarrass us on the world stage as does Trump. Some think Kamala is silly and lacks gravitas but I don't buy it and have they ever taken a long hard look at the slovenly ridiculousness of Trump? 7) The DHS would not have a wing of armed sadistic goons murdering their taxpaying fellow Americans in cold blood in cities such as Minneapolis, attempting to intimidate an entire community. 8) Our elections would not be federalized and would stand a better chance of remaining free and fair unlike the obvious attempts at voter suppression that are going on today from Republicans. 9) We would not be murdering boaters on the high seas in cold blood because of suspected drug trafficking, which in at least one case if not more, was proven an erroneous assumption. 10) No demolition of the historically significant White House East Wing to construct some gaudy AF $300 million ballroom to entertain Trump's oligarch friends from around the globe. The parties there in the future might even imitate the masked ritual ball scene with Venetian style masks from Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut. Why not? We're heading in that direction. Ten reasons off the top of my head that sound preferable to me than what we ended up with. We'd still be the United States of America and not a reckless and rogue actor, a loose cannon rolling around on the deck of the world, a nation busy at self-immolation as we are today under President Caligula. Now if these were normal and stable times, I could probably expect all of the above from a generic Republican and Democrat, both recognizing our leadership role in the world and both respectful of our institutions. The primary difference between the two generic candidates would be the size, scope & role of the federal government and I myself would probably lean towards the Republican. But that's no longer at the crux of the difference today and people have been very slow to recognize it. Today the difference is between keeping the United States of America the United States of America, where the natural rights of man are recognized and those who govern do so with the consent of the governed, OR transforming it into something in complete contradiction of our foundational values, a world where the few and strong rule over all citizens, a world of Might Makes Right. Yeah, no thanks. I wanted to keep America, America, I wanted to keep America the same America that our allies would recognize, respect and could trust, and one that our adversaries would fear and not laugh at. This is why I voted for Kamala Harris. People have got to see where the real difference is today because it's no longer the conservative versus liberal battleground of yesterday. The oligarchs are counting on folks not recognizing this. Sorry I write too much. I tend to get carried away. But I feel very strongly about this. A better America would have had the wisdom and morality to have elected Kamala Harris to the presidency and sent Donald Trump to a federal penitentiary where he belongs until his end. Signed a moderate conservative former Republican and Reaganite.
David Thornton (PilotPundit) 🇺🇸🌻🇺🇦 🇮🇱@captainkudzu

If Kamala had been elected, we wouldn’t be at war right now and the economy wouldn’t be crashing. It’s shocking how many people see that as a bad thing.

One thing is crystal clear. The rest of the world that has hated America for decades was right. The United States is the reason we can't have good health, peace, opportunity, money, safety...just an all-around fair shot at a lovely life. We waste our time here getting sick when we don't have to be. We waste our time working for wages that do not cover the cost just to live. We waste our time being scared to death of what our own government is going to demand of us next. We waste our precious time being manipulated into living a fear-based life that demands we hate those we're told are our sworn enemies. We are suffering. And now we know we never had to suffer for anything. America must be reformed in every way. We were asleep at the wheel because we're trying to stay alive long enough for the next beautiful thing we experience for 10 seconds before we have to go back to being debt slaves that live in constant fear and stress that the pharmaceutical companies love to control with their drugs. We have this incredible opportunity to be in bodies that can do AMAZING things naturally and we're just fucking used for our labor until we die a horrible death. It doesn't have to be like this. We currently run on stress when we were meant to run on consciousness. All of this makes me so fucking sad every day.
