Let me be very clear: I am not here to defend Graham Platner. Democrats should not make excuses for him. But the absolute hypocrisy from Republicans right now is breathtaking. These are the same people who have spent years defending, excusing, worshipping, and politically resurrecting Donald Trump, a man who has been accused by dozens of women of sexual misconduct, was found liable in civil court for sexual abuse, and still became the face, soul, and standard-bearer of the Republican Party. They did not abandon him. They did not demand accountability. They did not say “character matters.” They put his name on flags, hats, trucks, churches, and ballots. So yes, hold Platner accountable. Hold every Democrat accountable. Hold every public figure accountable. But do not let Republicans cosplay as the guardians of women, decency, or moral standards when their entire political movement is built around protecting one man from the consequences they demand for everyone else.
