Ladies. I am telling you this right now. Your husband’s family matters when you have a baby. You can say they aren’t allowed in for delivery. You can ask for limited time visits. You can ask for your husband to entertain and introduce the baby if you want to stay in bed. BUT- asking his parents/grandparents to wait to meet them while you let your family in is cruel and selfish. EVEN IF they might annoy you, or his mom is an attention hog, your baby is just as much your husband’s. Your recovery needs matter, but alienating them is wrong.

The difference between Catholics and many Protestants is this;
Some Protestants believe that once a person accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, that alone guarantees eternal salvation forever.
Catholics, however, believe that following Christ is a lifelong journey of faith, obedience, grace, and perseverance.
We believe in;
- Believing in Christ in our heart
- Confessing Him with our mouth
- Keeping His commandments
- Living faith through works of love
- Receiving Baptism
- Receiving the Holy Eucharist - His Body and Blood
- Repenting when we fall
- Remaining faithful until the end
The Catholic understanding of salvation is not that we "earn" Heaven by our own power. Salvation is entirely by God’s grace. But we must COOPERATE with that grace and remain in Christ.
That is why Jesus said; “He who endures to the end will be saved.” - Matthew 24:13»
So if someone asks me as a Catholic, "Are you saved?"
I would say:
I was saved.
I am being saved.
And I hope to be saved as I remain faithful to Christ until the end.
Because salvation is not just a one-time moment. It is a lifelong walk with Christ.

So there’s an antioxidant your body produces called glutathione. It is a natural pain reliever.
Tylenol depletes glutathione. This is why I will never take Tylenol again unless I’m literally dying of a high fever and ibuprofen is not available.
If you want to build your glutathione back, take NAC.

@CatholicCharm So you are stereotyping based off your experience. Im the paternal grandparent. I showed up and took care of cleaning and baby duties for six weeks. Her mom did all the cooking and sent it over. I was there to take care of my kids so they didnt get overwhelmed and be a grandma

Nope. The dynamics between the new mom and then maternal and paternal grandmother are completely different. My mom is still a mom first, and she was there to take care of me and make my nostalgic childhood soup and help with my laundry. My MIL was there as a grandmother and just wanted to hold the baby, yap about how much he looks like her great uncle twice removed, and even sprawled out on my couch while I was having to stand like 4 days after birth.
A new mom shouldn’t have to deal with nonsense and if anyone, grandparents or other, want to see a freshly newborn baby then they shouldn’t be annoying

If you have a growing family. It’s natural to take more pics of the first one. Kids notice everything and will look and pics and notice if there are “too many” of earlier ones, so be sure to keep snapping pics of all of the new little ones. They will ask. Trust me.

People are freaking out over this like it is unreasonable to consider your husband’s family just as much of an important fixture in your child’s life as your own family.

When religious figures start discussing a minor’s physical development as a basis for adult relationships, they cross a serious moral line.
A child developing physically does not automatically mean emotional maturity, mental readiness, or the ability to handle adult situations. That distinction matters.
Religious leaders carry influence, which is why their words should reflect responsibility, protection of minors, and clear moral boundaries, not comments that can be interpreted as normalising harmful ideas.
Puberty is biology. Adulthood is far more than that.
