Question:
Mainoo x Ugarte doesn’t work.
Mainoo x Casemiro doesn’t work.
Mainoo x Anderson doesn’t work.
Mainoo x Rice didn’t work.
At what point do we start asking if Mainoo is part of the issue?
@dgv1133@AhQT80p8Oh41175@pamelam35 You don't decide what is a fair ban or not. It's not up to you.So whether you think he should sit out a 2 year ban or 5 year it means nothing.I doubt Sinner gives a hoot whether you take his accomplishment seriously or not.
@matazman62@AhQT80p8Oh41175@pamelam35 Nope, all I want is for Sinner to serve a fair ban based on the precedent set with other players that failed doping test with similar dosing before him - I think he needs to sit out a minimum of 2+ years, and only then would I take his accomplishments serious.
I’ve been struggling with tennis lately.
It honestly feels like I’m going through a breakup with something I’ve loved for so long. I’ve always said tennis is the purest form of sport and now it feels like that’s being stripped away from me.
I keep asking myself if I love the game…or if I loved what the Big 3 made it feel like.
I miss Nadal’s fire, Federer’s artistry, and Djokovic’s edge. That era pulled something out of me that I don’t feel right now.
With them, it always felt like they were creating new puzzles for each other in real time. Constant problem-solving.
You’d watch them solve one, then uncover another. It never ended.
Now it feels like Jannik Sinner already solved it. I respect how good he is. It’s almost perfect. But it feels mechanical.
I don’t feel anything watching it.
And if I don’t feel anything…what am I even watching for? At least there's Alcaraz.
@KnuxxGrey@pamelam35 I agree.I only watched Golf because of Tiger.I have been watching Tennis since Navratilova Graf Lloyd Seles Venus Serena Novak Sampras Fed Nadal and nobody can tell me that a particular era was bettet.Sport like anything evolves because times change
@pamelam35 I'm the same way with golf, I would watch it religiously when Tiger played, but only him. I was more a Tiger fan than a golf fan. But I can't agree with tennis. I love this sport, no matter who is playing. I feel you tho, point taken, it's different now, but I just love 🎾
@pamelam35 This happens to most tennis fans at some point. You follow a player or a group of players for a long time then eventually they retire. And it’s difficult to connect w the players after that period.
@pamelam35 Back in the day, I felt the same way about Sampras. The question is, who is after Sinner and Alcarez? Not many challengers now. Eventually it will autocorrect.
@pamelam35 I was men's tennis non stop and I am just not into Sinner bc yea, he's like a robot. I appreciate his talent but I don't even watch the second set yesterday. Just don't care. 🤷🏼♀️
@pamelam35 This was a view widely shared in the 90s, when Pete Sampras was doing his thing.
His demeanour was similar to Sinner.
People would compare him to what went before, "The Golden age of tennis" etc.
We need some new guys but I don't see anything changing in the next few yrs.
@pamelam35 Net, net, you may dislike Sinner, or he doesn't "excite" you. But honestly, that means zero in the grand scheme of things.
I love Sinner, I love how respectful and cool under pressure he is, and how technically gifted he is.
@AhQT80p8Oh41175@pamelam35@dgv1133 So why not stop watching the sport? I mean the governing bodies have pronounced on the issues? You want Sinner to stop competing?
@pamelam35@dgv1133 Iga and Jannik - it’s not only the doping that is disappointing, it’s the whole lack of integrity, lack of punishment, lack of accountability, the arrogance, the lack of remorse, the lack of respect towards all tennis fans, the disregard for the rest of the players.
@pamelam35 Alcaraz has more Grand Slam wins and he keeps evolving his game. When he first beat Djokovic it was all subtlety. Now he has added power without losing the subtlety pulling it out when needed. Yes, when Sinner is on he blows opponents away. But he is not always on.
@pamelam35@pavyg The women’s game is in a great spot with a ton of contenders, and most have unique and entertaining personalities.
It’s a testament to Sinner’s and Carlos’s greatness that no one else is close, but it’s boring. Every player plays the same way now. There is very little variety
@pamelam35 Maybe just stop watching tennis and go watch ufc. People always come out when sinner have some win streak. The era you so much love saw Novak won 41 straight matches and nobody cried, saw nadal wom 43 straight matches. It’s always sinner you all have issues with.
@pamelam35 To me it has been a blowback to see the one-handed backhand progressively dissapear. Now most players have a similar style. You used to have defensive players (Simon, Murray) and ofensive ones (Raonic, Stepanek), not anymore.
Also, Sinner's matches are extremely boring.
@weare_spartan@pamelam35@pavyg How on earth can you complain about evolution in sport and wish that if only we had Jordan days or Tiger Woods or Nadal or Chelsea?
Isn't that absolutely nonsensical?
@pamelam35@pavyg It’s happening in football, it’s happening with the NBA. It’s happening with society. Culture in all it forms feels like it is degrading…you’re not alone
@pamelam35 This would be so fun instead, right? Not boring at all, seeing one guy win it all. Hypocrisy at its finest. All this bs just to say “I love Alcaraz but can’t stand Sinner”.
