AUTUMN GLOW failed?? Please…. She ran out of her skin. They have gone flat out for nearly the entire race. SIR DELIUS has gone like an absolute beast. LINDERMANN was given an incredible ride under the circumstances. Ran on pace assisted to grab her late. He’s no slouch. She was right there chasing Sir Delius from the 600m mark. Certainly naive to say 2000m is likely her optimal distance, and certainly not further. But she didn’t fail #QueenElizabethStakes

Autumn Glow has come through yesterday’s run well, which has been pleasing to see. I’m disappointed for the horse, as she gave everything in the race, but I simply got her distance range wrong. I apologise to everyone for that — we’ll accept defeat graciously and come back better. We will now look ahead to the spring, where Autumn Glow can shine again. I’ll speak with the owners, map out an exciting preparation, and keep you updated. Congratulations to Sir Delius and their team on a brilliant win.

I think pacemakers should be allowed in Australia, at least for the big G1 2000m features. Unless there is something out of the ordinary, LINDERMANN sets a sedate tempo for the first half of the race in the Queen Elizabeth and we don't see a true test of who is the ten furlong champ. Tom surely doesn't ask DUBAI HONOUR to push on again? Craig unlikely to be aggressive on SIR DELIUS? And the others probably aren't the types to generate an honest gallop on-pace.

Selfishly, I’d love to see him away from Sha Tin. 22 runs… 21 at the same track. An absolute freak - potentially one of the best we’ve ever seen. Connections are clearly prioritising longevity and sticking to what works, and with the prize money on offer there’s very little incentive to travel…but I’d love to see him tested more globally. Even brilliance loses a bit of its edge when it’s the same race on repeat.
