Today is the most exciting date in @Uthana_Inc's history as we announce our funding round and bring our product into Open Beta. Anyone can now experience generative AI for 3D character animation by 1. Uploading any rigged character (regardless of skeleton) 2. Prompting with text or video OR searching a library of 10,000 motions 3. Editing in a web application and downloading in FBX or GLB Below is our explainer video that gives a quick overview of what's available. This is a first step toward Uthana's vision to power real-time, novel motion in response to narration, environment, and character intent. In furtherance of that vision, we're announcing a $4.3M funding round from @iaventures , A16Z's @speedrun, @AcequiaCapital, @HustleFundVC, @MetaVision_VC and others. Yesterday we announced that we are doing a Kickstarter for STARS REACH. We're doing this because the climate for games investment is terrible. We've raised a lot of money, and expect to keep raising. Being able to show support from players helps. Even a Follow goes a long way:

I worked on an early, very different iteration of the @unity pricing changes ~1 yr ago My thoughts: 1. Unity strategically had no choice but to make changes 2. Devs are upset, but it isn't quite as bad as it seems 3. Unity's comms & implementation wasn't great More below 👇

This is legit the kind of math I'm doing too. I've learned that Unity's fee won't be retroactive which is delightful, but also Among Us gets enough dls per month that I could just hire two whole people to port AU away from Unity instead of them taxing us for 0 added value.

I would bet a decent amount of money that I could port everything in Qud over to Godot in about 4 weeks (might take 8); the only thing we'd lose is mobile and console, which is big enough to stick around, but it probably won't be a blocker forever.

Unity game engine now charging a fee per install starting 01/24. theverge.com/2023/9/12/2387… Risky move by Unity. Short term profit yes, but long term? Any new project that was considering another engine just made their choice. Unreal and other engines should have a party today.
