#PoliceMinistry [ATTACKS AGAINST GHANAIAN NATIONALS AND OTHER FOREIGN NATIONALS] The Ministry of Police strongly condemns the recent xenophobic acts of violence and intimidation directed at Ghanaian nationals and other foreign nationals within the Republic of South Africa. These actions are not only unlawful, but they stand in direct opposition to the values of dignity, equality, and human rights upon which our democracy is founded. South Africa is a constitutional state governed by the rule of law. No individual or group has the authority to take the law into their own hands, irrespective of grievances or frustrations. The Ministry of Police wishes to advise the members of the public that acts of xenophobia, violence, looting, or intimidation will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The #SAPS has been instructed to act decisively and without hesitation in addressing these incidents. All those found to be participating in, inciting, or supporting such criminal conduct will be identified, apprehended, and brought before the courts. The Ministry of Police calls on all communities to remain calm and to reject any attempts to sow division and hatred among residents of our country. The Ministry further urges community leaders, civil society organisations, and all stakeholders to work together with law enforcement agencies to prevent further violence and to promote dialogue and understanding. #ProtestAction ME

Inequality is one of the greatest threats to human progress.   It retards human development and progress because where inequality exists, opportunity is scarce. Where opportunity is scarce, potential is wasted. And where potential is wasted, progress is not just slowed – it is stopped. x.com/i/broadcasts/1…

The president of South Africa said he will not tolerate the violent xenophobic movement that are terrorizing Africans in this country. Words is powerful, but we need to see action.. starting with these criminals and thugs. They are murderers.. and they should be indicted for war crimes. And if the president cannot charge these criminals and animals, African countries should do so.. the ICC should step in. Enough is enough.

Citing the stupid constitution makes me sick to the core! Any country that doesn’t prioritise its citizens grievances and ignore, you will find such! Illegal immigration is an unlawful act, illegal can’t be legal! When you speak law speak law! We have laws that foreigners must follow finish! You can’t sight human right from constitution in the absence of following the law. In the absence of law, people shall govern

@KrugersdorpB @ZungulaVuyo People has given government enough time to sort this out but government has blatantly refused. Infact SA id’s and passports are for sale. I think people’s patience has run out and South Africans will not fold arms when government fails to act. Hence we are seeing these results.

There is no government that would summon our Ambassadors if the government actually enforced immigration laws. Immigration laws are enforced all over Africa and rest of the world, and no one says its xenophobia. The issue in SA, is a failing government that leads to citizens having to step in. The only solution is a government actually enforcing the immigration laws !!!

A Ghanaian mechanic who’s also a master’s degree, is running his own successful workshop in JHB, and offering to train South Africans 👏🏽 But he made it very clear: he’s willing to share skills, mentor, and open doors… just not for people who aren’t serious and who are lazy to work. This is the kind of mindset and collaboration we need more of skills transfer, hard work, and real opportunities.

Competition for resources explains the stress, but it doesn't explain the selectivity of the anger and the dehumanization. There’s a difference between being frustrated by lack of jobs and deciding that a small shop owner in the slums is the reason you don't have healthcare. If it were just about resources, the frustration would be directed at everyone holding those resources including the 80% mentioned in my original tweet. When the resentment only targets other Black Africans, it’s no longer just a resource issue; it’s a specific ideology. How logical it is to resent someone with even less than you for stealing a tiny slice of a tiny pie, while ignoring the people who own the whole bakery?
Bruno Thee Stalliion@leewritesalot

On an immediate, micro-level, poor Black SAfricans often have to compete for resources with immigrants they share proximity with. That will produce some resentment, we can't act like that is completely absurd. Now, how it gets channeled is where things get pear-shaped.

Black South Africans are 80% of the population. White South Africans are 7.8% of thw population but own 80% of the land and money. The rich people who own the whole country have convinced black south Africans that Migrants who make up just 4% of the population are the reason they are broke. Divide and Rule is alive and well in SA.
Culton Scovia Nakamya@CultonScovia

A South African going against a Ghanian is such a shock. This is xenophobia dressed up as protecting the country. Blaming migrants won’t fix whatever you are fighting for. This is stupidity and a failure of humanity.

It’s beautiful to see Zimbabwe and Botswana implementing passport-free travel using national ID cards. 👏🏿 I vividly remember Julius Malema proposing this exact idea years ago. But because it was Malema, the usual crowd lost their minds, suddenly it was populist, unrealistic, "dangerous. Now two sovereign African nations are doing it, and it's being celebrated as progressive. The hypocrisy is loud. This is what genuine African integration looks like. No expensive visas, no humiliating border processes , just Africans moving freely across African land. The agenda was never reckless. It was visionary. Credit where it's due. More of this across the continent, please. 🌍✊🏿

@AdHabb Very true discourse right now is whether you support BEE or not and not delving deeper in the issue. At the end an honest assessment and engagement based on practical metrics which observes both pros nd cons can help build a growing and transformative economy

11. I underscore this here because the current debate is caught in binary: support BEE or you must be against transformation. I would suggest that it is possible to be committed to transformation & yet be critical of BEE. Indeed, this is necessary if development is the goal.
