NEW: 'No idea, genuinely': Watch as Reform economic chief gets confused over existing relationships between Notts County Council and regional leaders.
Cllr James Walker-Gurley, a new Reform cabinet member in Notts, sat down with us last week. It didn't go well.

I'll be 74 years of age next week, and I can not remember a more dishonest Prime Minister leading an equally dishonest bunch of professional politicians with next to zero business experience between them telling our successful entrepreneurs how to run their businesses. @UKLabour

Fiona Bruce shows that Richard Tice doesn't really know what he's doing beyond slogans #BBCQT
Fiona Bruce, "I wasn't going to come to you but since you jumped in. This is the first time UKIP-Reform have had executive power, what are you going to do with it?"
Richard Tice, "Save money, audit the finance, great councillors will do that work, they will save money, and then sort things out"
Fiona Bruce, "What will you do with the money that you save?"
Richard Tice, "Many of these councils are going bust"
Fiona Bruce, "So what will you spend it on?"
Richard Tice, "Save money and deliver services, procure better contracts"
Fiona Bruce, "What I'm asking is there anything you'd do differently?"
Richard Tice, "Better contracts, smarter. Not negotiate longer contracts"
Fiona Bruce, "If you save money what will you do with the money you save"
Richard Tice, "Then you can reduce the increases in council tax, better service sin critical areas, SEN provision. The first thing you have to do is save money"

@1886_blog You’re scoring less than two goals a game in the league this season, think you deserve the title. Absolute nonsense that this is about refereeing when you’re 11 points behind. No class.

@DaveFinchMMA @GaryCasty @RachelReevesMP @UKLabour Well slow clap for the businesses paying their fair share of taxes. They make the most money 😂 It sucks but we all have to do it. Many don’t pay enough is my point. Do you have your head up the arses of big businesses? It’s obvious you just have a different focus - migrants
English

They already do, they contribute the majority of the taxes. And increasing taxes on the wealthy and corporations amounts to the same thing as getting rid of them, do you have your head in the sand? The wealthy and big corporations are leaving the UK for other places. If they aren’t here, they don’t pay tax here. I can’t see why this is so hard for you to comprehend, it’s not exactly difficult to understand.
English

@DaveFinchMMA @GaryCasty @RachelReevesMP @UKLabour Haven’t said anything about getting rid of the big companies, I just think that they should pay their fair share of tax. The law even allows loopholes for not paying tax, people are always going to not pay. If Labour could clamp down on both this and illegal migration - 👍🏼👍🏼
English

My start up is named on companies house, it pays no tax yet as its accounts are due Feb 2026. My other business is self employed so it’s not listed on companies house. My clothing business will be listed on companies house once I have finished the research for set up, that isn’t trading at all.
It’s not a debate, it’s pointing out clear facts.
Migrants cost billions upon billions, the wealthy pay the majority of the taxes in the UK. Yet you’d rather have migrants and get rid of the wealthy and large corporations. It’s completely backwards thinking.
The top 100 businesses (out of 4.5 million publicly listed/limited companies) contribute about £100+ billion a year in direct taxes. Collectively that 4.5 million businesses contribute around 60% of UK tax income. The wealthiest earning people pay the majority of all income tax and National Insurance contributions, they also contribute the most in VAT. A £200k car would contribute about £42k in taxes for instance, not including further taxes on fuel, road tax, insurance taxes, etc over the lifetime of the car. You see how your argument doesn’t hold up?
English

@DaveFinchMMA @GaryCasty @RachelReevesMP @UKLabour You’re obviously not a very good debater if you just lower yourself to insults. A sure sign you’re rattled. You’re not named on companies house as a director so maybe you don’t have a business 🤷🏼♂️ Also you’re wrong/naive. Plenty of companies dodge paying their fair share of taxes
English

Well if you own a business, then you know what you’re saying is idiotic. You can’t just “not pay tax”, no business can just refuse to pay tax. I think you’re probably lying about owning a business because anyone who owns a business would know basic tax laws and wouldn’t hold such idiotic beliefs.
